The ice cream carton looked familiar and I remember posting a photo of a similar carton last year with a comment that the dessert I had wasn’t on the menu. A close examination of the menu revealed that what was on the menu was Traditional Italian Ice Cream Delicacy. This was on FRA-BOG in January 2018.

The dessert I actually had wasn't on the menu.

I was going to say that LH served basically the same meals on all longhaul flights ex-Germany but the second meal depended on the length of the flight and the time of day. So they served (or used to serve as it turned out) more substantial second meals on flights to SFO or LAX than to BOS or JFK. I just checked relevant menus for May/June 2019 and found they now served exactly the same second meal on all flights to the US. I was curious since the second meal on my FRA-BOG flight last year was this.

It looks like LH still serves slightly more substantial second meals on flights to BOG and MEX (~11hr day flights) than on flights of similar lengths to SFO and LAX. It sounds like another “enhancement” undoubtedly due to customer feedback. I remember on a flight to SFO (in F) some passengers turned down the second meal because they were going to have dinner after landing.

Good news for mats184! On the return flight LAX-MUC Business passengers get the same meals (minus one or two options) as First Class passengers.
