Thanks for that serfty. I have been using an iPad, logged in. This runs you through the Express Checkout path and (I have just discovered) this states that seating options (amongst others) are not available when using Express Checkout (the only iPad option thats immediately obvious). I can see the method you showed when trying this on a laptop.

I avoid using tablets/smart phones for important things like booking flights.

If you are interested in where you sit, Express Checkout is a product name and not a description of the goods. Process simplification seems to have led to consequences that were not properly thought through.

There's a floating banner set along the bottom of the booking screen with 'CONTINUE" . I use that to proceed through the booking. Never 'Express' ...
