Iberia limits the number of award flight searches ??

This happened to me serveral times: After I make 5 to 6 searches for award availability during the same session (each search requiring to validate a CAPTCHA), Iberia blocks me from making more searches with the error below

Can Iberia's website be any more bad?

It happens to everyone even those that actually fly 100K a year and did not partake of this generous offer

And it doesn't happen to those people who:

1. use Iberia's Spain website instead of USA
2. use AA's website to use the calendar function to narrow down dates, etc.

To check IBs availability at the AA's website, do I have to be a member of AAs FFP and have sufficient miles in the account for the hypothetical trip?

Thanks,

No. You don't even have to log in.

Thanks for the tip, it will be helpful. Although point 2 will not help my current need, which is to search and try to snag an award BA metal with lower carrier surcharges using Iberia Avios

It would - in fact, you could just use ba.com for this, and use their monthly view too. The availability is the same across the board.

Keep in mind, though, that IB sometimes offers better availability to its own members than to partner FFP members. I was able to book a BOS-MAD award in J that wasn't showing up on AA.com, for example.

I'm curious as to why you think surcharges are lower using Iberia Avios.

Apart from a handful of ex-Europe routes where you might pay 10-15 euros instead of the flat 21 euro Reward Flight Saver, I'm not aware of any advantages on BA metal.

Sometimes you can save some because IB alows mixed cabins, while BA not.

Example: MAN-LHR-JFK in C.
Booked via BA: 50k and 380 gbp. Everythiing in C.
Booked via IbPlus: 54k and 280 gbp. MAN-LHR in Y, LHR-JFK y C.

Its not exactly the same, but I find it really difficult to value the meal served on board + 4k Avios for about 100 gbp.

But I think, thats about it.

Example: YUL-LHR-RAK (with YUL-LHR in J and LHR-RAK in Y) costs less points and less surcharges using Iberia Avios compared to BA Avios
