Apart from a handful of ex-Europe routes where you might pay 10-15 euros instead of the flat 21 euro Reward Flight Saver, I'm not aware of any advantages on BA metal.
Sometimes you can save some because IB alows mixed cabins, while BA not.
Example: MAN-LHR-JFK in C.
Booked via BA: 50k and 380 gbp. Everythiing in C.
Booked via IbPlus: 54k and 280 gbp. MAN-LHR in Y, LHR-JFK y C.
Itīs not exactly the same, but I find it really difficult to value the meal served on board + 4k Avios for about 100 gbp.
But I think, thatīs about it.
