Any point in enrolling?

I'm flying with the family from USA to CPH next week. I can't imagine ever flying SAS again I mean maybe but I can't imagine it happening anytime soon. Is there any point in sighing up me or my family in their FF program? I am flying Plus and would love to upgrade to Biz, will I get much of a discount if I join? Anything else I'm missing? Thanks

If you already actively collect with UA I would personally stick with it. If you are in another *A FF program then I would use that.

There are no upgrade discounts for SK's FF members.

Honestly if I was flying plus with the family I would consider A3 for the 200% mileage accrual, depending on the route one could be close to silver with a little extra flying and the extra 1000points from joining..... as a silver op could pool the entire familys miles into one account for a decent redemption...

Just a option, to be fair I have not looked into the ua earnings at all. Edit: looks like A fares earn 100% to ua so A3 200% looks mighty fine

Also one possibility is if you want status you could join Egypt airs program and make a family account

All miles are credited towards elite status including your familys miles toward YOUR status so Star Gold for 2 years is possible

http://www.egyptairplus.com/MS_Membe...te/levels.html

Just an idea Egyptair plus credits SK a fares at 150% so if your flying with your spouse and 2 kids east coast to chp thats over 46000 miles so wont be enough for gold but if there are three kids we get close, also if flying from MIA or LAX or SFO it starts to add up

What ffp's are you a member of now? AA & WN in your profile. Any others?
What fare bucket? Look here for SAS partners http://www.wheretocredit.com/sas-scandinavian-airlines

General http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/infor...help-here.html

With non USA airlines always expect to travel in the class you buy. Non USA airlines do not do upgrades like USA based airlines. That usually means you pay cash for the full fare difference to business class.

But this is SAS, and SAS offer competitive upgrade pricing on many flights through Plusgrade AND at the airport sure they are not complimentary but most of the times not anywhere near full fare difference .

That said the Plus to Business upgrades are more pricier then then Economy to Plus ones. If OP is flying in high demand days it may also be difficult to get a upgrade to business.

Thanks for the tips. I guess I'll try and credit to A3. Can they do that at checkin? I don't fly UA. I only have status on WN and AA, also fly Delta and JetBlue a bit. It no current status.

I signed us all up on A3. Flying from MIA it looks I'll earn about 20,000 miles each. But. I can't combine accounts until I hit silver which is 24,000 points but I can probably swing a few US domestic F trips on United (I really dislike them but that's a separate story) before the end of year to get me an addl 4K and then if I understand correctly, I can merge accounts. Thanks for the tips. Oh yah, and I'm excited to visit Denmark. Hopefully my wife's maiden name doesn't screw me on her points but even if so the kids will be nice.

With A3 its friends AND family so no name worries does not need to have same address etc plus yoo get 1000 welcome miles (or atleast you used to) that are elite qualifying as well so only 23k
