You are so right! It's like musical chairs at the moment.

The same is happening with Four Seasons and Rosewood - lots of FS people going to join Radha Arora or, in some cases, Oetker.

I guess 'the grass is always greener on the other side' applies to all walks of life.

Trump

I was just reminded of this thread today and I think we missed the winner. I was walking down Pennsylvania avenue in Washington DC just now and noticed the new Trump D.C. hotel that is taking over the stunning castle that was the Old Post Office. This is a beautiful structure and I expect it to be a great hotel. Then I thought about all the other Trump hotels that have opened recently and all the notoriety the guy is getting lately. Maybe this will be the luxury group that shines in 2016?

And whether Trump wins the election or not, he will be living on Pennsylvania Avenue in 2016. I'm sure the hotel's address and opening date isn't an accident.

Not to forget Trump will be opening a hotel here in Vancouver later this year in an iconic twisting tower (2nd tallest after the Shangr-La which is across the street). Not sure how Trump will do here -- there certainly is local backlash over him and his name. Incidentally, the hotel is built on a piece of land which very few business have had long term success and has been vacant for as far back as I can remember.

I think Rosewood will be interesting to watch; and perhaps Langham too. I fear Aman is becoming a two tired company -- its marquee properties, and the rest. I stayed at Amanfayun and Aman Summer Palace this summer and Fayun was average and ASP was a disaster.
