My friends, I wish I could convey the vast difference this experience has made on my life, but I'm afraid it simply isn't possible with words. Plato's allegory of the cave serves us well here.

To start, it's probably a teeny tiny bit of DYKWIA, in that, when you board and turn left, it's like - Yes, I'm in First Class! Then, it's almost like a private airplane, in that, the FAs are serving drinks already, unimpeded by Y pax boarding, which also is just a nice side perk as you relax and get settled in without people bumping into you. You are also not being rushed / hassled by anyone boarding behind you to get your bags situated. It's much quieter overall, than boarding from door 1L. Also, there always - ALWAYZ seems to be lots of overhead bin space available, even if you board late!
There are probably a few other niceties about it that I can't think of at the moment - - anybody??? It's really is just a nice, different feeling compared to a B737, for example.

Doubt it. The 2L door on the A321 is too close to the port engine, and even Airbus discourages its use for boarding. AA committed to using the 2L door for boarding on its premium A321Ts, and there are already widespread reports that AA isn't keeping its promise probably due to them being hesitant to drive a jetway so close to the port engine.

Without trying to sound snobbish (because this is truly a "First World problem"), if up in the premium cabin, when boarding through 2L, it means all the Y passengers don't walk past you as they head back to Economy. It makes for a more relaxing experience during boarding, and I know it's also easier on the F/As performing PDB service. Do I lose sleep over it if I'm a 757 or a widebody and they're using 1L or if I'm on a narrowbody (MD-88, 737, etc.) and everyone heading back to Y walks past? No. But is a much quieter and more relaxed boarding experience when 2L is used for boarding.

IME, there is usually "just enough" room for everyone's carry-ons in FC on a 757. If boarding through 1L, all it takes is a couple Y passengers to think they can put their bags in the first available bin space they see (and among the 150 or so Y passengers a 757 can hold, there's probably going to be at least one or two who think that way) to cause the FC cabin to run out of bin space.

Had a 757 flight from MCI to ATL today. Initially they announced that there would be no ground service today due to a quick turn around. Then they announced the boarding was due to 2L! We got got ground service! I'll admit, turning left... was nice. Getting ground service due to being able to turn left at an airport you didn't expect to, even better@!
