I had the same question at Pulo, so I secretly hid to figure it out. At Pulo, security is tracking your every move. They know where you are and what you are doing on the island. When you leave the room they radio housekeeping, who then sends a team of 4-6 to refresh the room. They were able to get in and out in less than 5 minutes and vanish. It is quite a ballet. This is either a little creepy or shockingly good depending on your viewpoint.

We were in Amandari and my wife wanted to do the bicycle trip to Eastern Bali. The only problem was we did not bring any athletic shoes with us and it was raining really hard. No problem the staff said, they provided us athletic shoes and socks at no charge! They also got a very competent and fun guide to take us biking in the rain. Definitely above and beyond!

Shortly prior to our arrival at Aman Sveti Stefan a guest had organized a birthday party. According to a staff member that we talked to, the guest had two special requests:
- He wanted Jose Carreras to sing at the party - Mr Carreras accepted the invitation
- He wanted to have the dinner party on a structure floating above the water and to see the water through the floor. Aman had to fly in a special glass stage from Italy and set it up in front of Villa Milocer over the water in order to accommodate all the tables and chairs for well over 100 guests.

The Hilton nearby would do it too if you paid

Before we went to Vietnam, I was researching contemporary pottery as we have had success in buying beautiful dishes in Vietnam. I found a brand called Amai. It was developed by two Dutch expats. They had a couple stores in Ho Chi Minh. I contacted the concierge at the PH Saigon who said one of the stores was now a cafe. We went to the other store that allegedly carried the product. It didn't. We learned that the ladies had sold the brand to a large dishware company when they relocated.
We arrived at Amanoi. At our first meal we saw they were using Amai dishes. We asked Joy if she knew how we could order some. She said to let the hotel know before a return visit what we wanted and they would order for us. She subsequently came to us and said she had gone thru their inventory. There were three sizes where they had enough new stock that she would sell some pieces to us. We accepted her offer, the (amazingly reasonable) price was put on our bill, and the hotel packaged the pieces into a well padded box for us to do a handcarry home. It was very smart by the hotel as whenever I use those dishes, I am reminded of the kindness at Amanoi.
