Well, I'm pretty sure I'm not going to try and fly 120K miles, even at F level (50% bonus) every year, I do want to enjoy life with family. The world isn't about traveling.

If you would fly F (or even J) the DM would still be nice but not as important anymore .

I have had a lifetime card for about fifteen years and I can tell you all that the only recognition is on the actual aircraft.
Ground staff haven't got a clue and the local sales people simply cannot know how these things are earned.

Very true. If you fly premium cabin most of the benefits (lounge, priority tag) are already there

I think he means DM IN, It sort of duplicate in some sense.

However I really don't see CX will introduce lifetime membership any time soon to create potential liability.

yea i agree, unfortunately I don't think they need to offer lifetime. I gripe from time to time but at the end of the day, I still choose CX/KA overwhelmingly and I choose to be in MPC/AM. Nobody is forcing me. I could switch to earning on AA (or, more drastically, I could switch to Qatar/Emirates for second-tier European destinations I visit....I did that a bit between 2010-2012 in addition to CX, and eventually gave it up). I accept the lower earn/burn/lack of lifetime in exchange for what I consider consistent and good on-board service, especially since I buy quite a lot of Y class regional tickets on KA/CX. DM really pampers the hell out of Y class...and hopefully I make it up to them in terms of loyalty and a lot of LH premium flying.

if this forum is based on some type of insider knowledge, however, I'd be quite pleasantly surprised if lifetime came out.

I would also like to know the statistic of MPO membership.

How many million MPOs are there?

How many are just GR...etc?
How many are DM's?
How many DM+/IN are left?

that's very interesting...so no more DM+! I'd be curious to hear from some of the members here (there are one or two who occasionally post) who are/were DM+, and what they think about losing that.

I still imagine there must be some way to tier customers and presumably DM members too.

I wonder whether this announcement http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...-launched.html will have any impact

not for when you burn them miles =)
or extra luggage allowance. (not that i believe an airline should actually impose luggage costs to F-only or DM fliers... when it's sort of reasonable of waht a person can handle - yes i know it's technically 60kg (but you arent gonna charge a DM F flyer anything under sth stupid like 150kg))
