FT Needs an instant ignore function

The number of obnoxious posters on FT seems to be increasing along with the viciousness and asperity of their posts. I am getting of tired of it. While I can not do much about their posts I can put them on my ignore list. However, adding users to the ignore list is not very user friendly as one needs to navigate through several pages while remembering the names of the users.

As such, I would like to suggest that when some one clicks on a user's name that it brings up a quick menu (kinda of like tool tips) that allows the following:

View Profile
View other posts.
Send PM
Add as Contact
Add to Ignore List.

Failing that when a person accesses another users profile have the ability to add them to your ignore list in a similar fashion to adding them as a friend.

Thanks.

This would be great.

I would also favor being able to block someone from seeing what you post. I've been posting in OMNI for all of two days now and it seems I've picked up a stalker already!

Did you mean OMNI/PR? That forum is VERY different than OMNI.

If it's reached that point you should just stop posting here. It's a public bulletin board.

Hmm... I get the ignore function in four clicks:

Click on the name
Pull up the profile
Click on 'User Lists'
Click on 'add to ignore list'

Thanks for pointing this method to me. I had not found it and have been navigating through my profile page. That said my request to make it even easier stands.

Especially, as last night for some odd reason the pop menu when one clicked on a user's name went directly to the user's profile page but yet this morning I notice now it is bringing up a quick menu which has most everything one needs but the ignore function.

No doubt. Many don't even know about ignore and the description how to do it in the FAQ is quite complex

I recently found the ignore function, and it has made reading the AA forum so much nicer.

I know what you mean, FUTR. I'm used to the same functionality on another BB. Pretty sure IB is aware how popular this option is.

We're getting there;

We've implemented it so that clicking on the poster's name gives you the immediate option to ignore.

Unfortunately it also gives the option to ignore every other poster on the thread, which can be a LONG list.

Trying to curtail it to just the poster's name.

PLEASE get rid of this "feature." It's too easy to ignore someone when all you want to do is look at the posts they've made.

Agreed ^ or make it so that the ignore feature only applies to the member whom you are clicking on and not everyone who has posted in the thread.

See my above reply; if we can't reduce the functionality to just the member you've clicked on, we will turn it off.

It's done; you will now only have the option to ignore the user whose name you click on.
