Very underhwhelmed with all these new proposed Aman locations.

What about Colca Canyon, Macchu Picchu, Atacama Desert, Patagonia, Amazon, Jericoacoara, Fernando de Noronha, Galapagos, Corcovado, Monteverde, Copan, Caye Caulker, San Ignacio...

And That's just South and Central America.

Get out of Europe! Such a boring place. An Aman in San Marino? Jeez.

Aman should have bought the Datai when they left GHM. Amandatai! ^

Even Anantara have better locations coming up than Aman.

It seems pretty clear however that this project has a low probability at the moment, and that the LOI is not even exclusive. San Marino would be an interesting location for an Aman however. Venezia is under construction- Gallavanters has also mentioned this.

In the contrary - my quote would be: Get out of America, such an unfriendly place (or something like that...). And open up in Portugal, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and Norway instead!

Nice theoretical idea - but in fact, the owner has not sold, he has just fired GHM as the hotel management company for the Datai. Furthermore, the Datai with 100+ rooms is too large for the Aman brand. And since both Aman and GHM have Zecha as their spiritual leader, there will be little chance that an owner hands over one management contract from GHM to Aman...

Aman are making Europe and its environs much less of a 'boring place'. Amanruya in Turkey is sensational, as is Aman Sveti Stefan, and Greece will be really welcomed by those of us who live fairly close. I am all for more Amans in and around Europe!

Very true on all accounts.
Actually, Zecha was the one who discovered the location himself by boat at the bay where the Datai was built later.

I stand corrected on the Datai. I do not claim to be an expert like you guys. But I am becoming an Amanjunkie (in theory) for their Asian resorts. No interest in the European ones, being a European myself (Brit) I want to travel to more exotic places.

I know of the proposed Gabon locations (Gombe beach and Kongou Falls), but why have Aman not ventured into Africa before now? Amanikhas and to a lesser degree Amanwana proves that Aman can do wildlife expeditions and safaris. Would love something small on the scale of the Orient-Express properties in the Okavango Delta, Botswana.

Any reason why Aman is seemingly concentrating more on certain continents than others?

Sorry to disappoint you but we are truly interested in European ones - where else could, us mere humans, go for our short weekend escapes from Europe? I was privi once to a promise given by Zecha himself - an Aman in every European country. I hope I will live long enough to see this.

Personally, I visited the American ones only once and I will never go back. The service was horrendous!

What you have to understand is that Aman need reliable partners and a stable regime in order to create a new Amanresort and, to date, Gabon's government is the first reliable partner in Africa. Adrian Zecha has been looking for several years. He is also looking at numerous 'exotic' destinations, but those destinations must be relatively stable, with serious investors.

I've just noticed Dennistons have updated their site with photos of the mock up room. Who's that looking out over the pool?

visit to amanruya

i visited amanruya in bodrum a few weeks ago with a small group of friends..
the architecture is very touching and moving, they accomplished all of the public areas which include restaurants, library, mainterrace, art gallery and lobby and lounges. all of these places makes the visiter feel very priviliged by indulging the feeling of luxury and space.
walking through the narrow passages between rooms makes you feel like you belong to ancient times.. amanruya is a beautiful mixture of history ,luxury and serenity.
i think that amanruya should be enjoyed in winter and autumn as well as summer depending on my personal experience.. you can get in the heated pool while enjoying the magnificently serene beauty of olive trees, sea, pineforest and the architecture..
