Hopefully we get Saul Bass for the 90th Anniversary, along with a completely new livery and the resurrection of the Tulip.

Let the design rest with the designer. Hopefully Saul Bass designs and the tulip are both dead.

Do we have any word when the A320 will receive the retro livery? I have heard nothing since the contest was announced..

My guess is that they'll repaint it closer to United's "Birthday", which is in April. They'll probably have some festivities on the day of.

I recall seeing somewhere that the 70's Friendship design was the winner (at UA). Maybe someone can find a link.

Receiving more than 29% of all votes, this livery debuted in 1971 on a Douglas DC-10 "Friend Ship." It was the only livery to feature stars alongside the United name.


2nd was the based on a Boeing 247-D that started flying in 1934, this livery was the first to use the "United Air Lines" name in large, bold letters. This livery option received 26% of the votes.

Yes, the 4/6 event will happen in Chicago to reveal the A320 with the new livery.

Unfortunately I cannot, I have to be in SFO. However, I am making sure that United takes a lot of great photos and will share them . I have been following this closely and do not want to miss it.
