Luxury Resort in Israel/Jordan

So are there any true Luxury resort properties in Israel...obviously there is no Ritz/FS etc but does anyone have experiance with the Dan in Eliat (anywhere else down there) or a very high-end property in Tel Aviv?

I am in Jerusalem and looking for get-a-way destinations...I have thought about the Intercon in Acquaba...any thoughts?

FS Amman seems like your generic City Type Hotel.

Thanks!

These two properties look nice:

Here's a negative review of the Evason in Jordan:

The Kempinski Aqaba is a superb property. Wonderful architecture (the public areas and the pool are gorgeous), excellent hard product and great service. The food is very good too from my limited experience of an in-room dinner and a breakfast. The breakfast buffet had an astonishing array of tempting items, beautifully presented on individual plates.

The Kempinski Ishtar is more of a typical resort. Although it too has lavish architecture and grand public spaces it didn't feel like the same league as the one in Aqaba. A solid 5* property but lacking the elusive luxury edge. The spa, however is astounding - huge and spacious with amazing facilities including its own private pool and lawns.

The only acceptable Luxury Hotel in Jerusalem is the new Mamilla Hotel. Everything else is famous for being famous.

In Jordan, Amman, the Four Seasons is in no way a generic city hotel - it is very elegant and boutique-like and by far the best in the country.

previously - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/luxur...ea-jordan.html

just noticed that while the 2 detached villas appear ridiculously expensive ($17K??) they also have 6 ishtar suites that share private pool(s) (currently $610 promo and $1245 BAR)

both ishtar and aqaba can be booked through visa for benefits

There is absolutely no such thing as luxury or fine service in Israel.

I would not call the Mamilla a luxury hotel by any stretch of the imagination. Some interesting desgin features, perhaps. But the rooms, service, food etc come nowhere close to a luxury hotel.

The Kig David (though it has many many faults) is closer to a luxury hotel.

Closest thing I have found to a luxury hotel in Israel is the Montefiore hotel. Its a tiny little boutique hotel with excellent service - easily the best service I ever had in Israel.

The King David is a true luxury hotel in every sense. The inconsistencies that were experienced in the past have been totally ironed out, esp, with total revamp of the 5th and 6th floors which are scheduled to be finished around April of this yr.

The Mamila, is interesting in terms of its design, but that is where it stops. The service, overall luxury of the property, is far from being anywhere close to luxurious

Hopefully the new Ritz-Carlton in the Tel Aviv area will change that in 2012.

I dont agree. The service is just too inconsistent to place the hotel into the luxury hotel category without some serious caveats.

I will repeat. There is no such thing as 5* service in Israel. Some might argue there is no such thing as good service in Israel.

My Israel opinion

The best luxury Hotel in Israel, is with out a shadow of a doubt, not in Israel, you have to trave to egypt or The Emirates, Again there are none, The American colony used to work, but now it is just the best of a mediocre bunch.

It's not Luxury by all of our standards but managed by Isrotel (Carmel Forest Spa, Royal Beach) and looks like worth checking out:

In Jordan, as vuittonsofstyle points out the FS Amman is a luxury hotel. After that there are nice hotels in Jordan but nothing that truly fits in the luxury category. The IC Acqaba is a nice hotel but I had problems with loud music emanating from the nightclub. I had a high-floor room that faced the back of the hotel and the music from the club was seemingly as high as it could go. A call to the front desk yielded limited results.

The Movenpick Hotel on the Dead Sea is another nice hotel in Jordan.

The service culture is lacking in Israel. Though there are many positive aspects about a visit, even flagged as a Ritz, I can't see a property excelling.
