Really? Wow. OK, I probably broke my annual record during the first 5 days of this year. But since then, it's been thin for us. Lots of Y0's and not so many bumps. Glad you're having a bumper crop..... (pardon the pun)

Funny, I seem to remember last year you were in a drought, and I was saying how great it was. Guess we've both regressed to the mean.....

VDB in not likely unless you see F0C0Y0; i.e. 0 in all booking classes. It shows F6A6Y1 now and is likely to go out with a few empty seats. F will be filled by upgrades.
two things. first, def should have put this in the VDB thread, my apologies. second, it's F6A6Y0 now. of course, anything can change. i'm actually surprised i haven't been upgraded yet.

however, if a vdb does occur, i will soooo beg for SFO-IAD-BRU the following day

i'll let you know what happens.

I just got my first VDB since moving out to LAX (LAX-BWI flight last week). I would love to be able to book flights with a good chance of getting bumped as I can apply the B Vouchers to my LAX-LHR flights (which are the only trips I pay for 100% out of personal funds). Any good resources for the handicapping the odds of a flight being over-sold? I can't rely on bad weather to pack the non-cancelled flights like I could in ORD.

As I read through the full post, do you oft VDBr's always go to the GA and express your interest in getting bumped as soon as you get to the gate? Is this something I could do in the RCC?

Been thinking about that same subject. I would think that picking RJ segments would seem to help to some extent...I had some luck with a VDB today and a week ago (first on UA in years - though often they were offered but I couldn't partake for one reason or another). Anyway one was CR7 and another CR2. Would later day flights be a good option as well, for increasing odds?

VDB out of CDG, is $800 fair compensation?

With less capacity and what appears to be a fairly strong summer travel to/from CDG despite fairly high fares, there appears to have been a lot of VDB offers lately out of CDG.

1) one colleague was offered VDB on 7/27 on UA 915 (CDG-IAD)
2) a second colleague was offered VDB on 7/28 on UA 943 (CDG-ORD)
3) I myself was offered VDB on 7/30 on UA 915 (CDG-IAD)

The offer for VDB was $800 plus a "guarantee" that my cleared SWU upgrade on my current flight will be honored and therefore I will be in C on the rebooked flight the following day (colleague #1 got the same offer while colleague #2 got the offer of $800 since he did not upgraded).

I declined the VDB offer since I needed to get home.

But since I will be back in Paris a few more times soon, I'm wondering if $800 is fair compensation for VDB from CDG? Keep in mind that a hotel room in Paris runs $200 or more plus another $100 at least for meals, taxi, and so on.

Was anyone offered VDB out of CDG today?

Is $800 fair compensation for VDB out of CDG or should it be more?

Sounds perfectly fair to me. Though you're the volunteer, so all that matters is what you think.

Regardless of how everyone else did.... Are you happy with what you got?

If so, great.

If not, ask for a little more next time, they might be a little more desprate.

I DECLINED the offer for VDB, since I needed to get home.

I am merely planning for the future

There ya' go... 800 was not enough in your instance, but I would have taken it every day of the week and twice on a Saturday.

Did they not offer a hotel and transportation for the overnight?

I've found it fairly rare for them to increase the voucher level but others certainly have more experience. Sometimes you can get an upgrade out of them in addition to the offered vouchers.

So my suspicion is that the VDB situation at CDG continues to exist!

600 euros is roughly the same as $800.

Did you accept?

Did not ask since I declined the VDB offer, but I would doubt it.
