Well I still can't make progress with Manage My Booking, 12 hours after the cancellation. Selecting the option to change my flight just gives :
"The fare rules for your booking indicate that changes are not permitted."
It does seem surprising that this is just not available on line after BA texting me earlier to do so.

Rebooking Mrs P last night on a flight out of ATL in about one week's time, I was on hold for about 15 minutes. The BA agent was once again (I had to rebook myself earlier in the week) gracious, efficient and helpful. Well done to the ticketing staff who, I presume, will be under a lot of pressure.
That said, it seems to me that BA haven't got major disruption right yet. First the email/SMS notification of cancelled flights doesn't happen when there is wide-scale disruption (presumably this is something to do with processing the number of messages) and second rebooking via ba.com doesn't work for the reasons mentioned in this thread. You'd have thought that ba.com would have an option to switch on an override on keting restrictions, especially as I note Mrs P has been rebooked from a MFU Club World (presumably in U class) to a J class booking.

Has anyone successfully OLCI'd for a BA flight on 20 April 2010?
At 0730hrs GMT today ba.com updated their web-site to read - 'ALL flights ... cancelled on 19 April'.
Their previous announcement, issued at 0845hrs GMT yesterday, read - 'ALL flights ... cancelled on 18 and 19 April'.
This begs the question - has anyone successfully OLCI'd for a BA flight tomorrow, Tuesday 20 April 2010?
Mrs PtF is due to fly on BA155 tomorrow afternoon, and although it would be no hardship to change to a later flight it would help, for a variety of reasons, to know ASAP what BA's plans are for tomorrow (if indeed they know themselves!).
For example tomorrow's BA117 LHR-JFK (the first BA flight to the US from LHR every day, if I am not mistaken) is currently showing on ba.com as operating - even though, with a departure time of 0855hrs UK time, this is less than 24 hours away.

Is BA making use of the time with planes on the ground?
Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere. Does anyone know if the grounded planes are being deep cleaned / upgraded to New First or just serviced while they're grounded?

No, all OLCI is suspended. I have flights tomorrow (which I'm about to refund), and OLCI will not work.

I'm in the same situation - have an early morning flight from LGW which is (at the moment) showing as running, but OLCI is disabled. I'm assuming the flight will be cancelled - UK airspace is now closed till 0100 tomorrow at the earliest.

Tried OLCI for my early-morning flight tomorrow (Tue 20 Apr) and got the following message:
Volcanic activity in Iceland is affecting European airspace, causing widespread flight cancellations.
Therefore online check-in is currently suspended.

I doubt it. Maintenance/upgrades etc. are planned months in advance, taking into account hanger space, engineers availability, spare part delivery etc. Very difficult to ramp that up quickly just because the fleet's grounded (but a shame they can't take advantage of the situation).

Has the new 1st been approved yet or is it still on test? I think it is on test still but I am sure someone can confirm. The planes are fitted out in Cardiff I believe so getting them to Cardiff would be a problem.
Cleaning etc is given to a 3rd party on a set budget. Unsure how it works with these planes not needing cleaning. Logic would be they could do a deep clean but I guess they have to work by contract. Next time you are on a plance with the toilet with the folding door have a loot at how much dirt etc is at the back of the door area. Vv nasty!!

If you click 'Start Online Check-in', another message appears with 'technical reasons' cited as the problem.

If Nats said planes would be grounded for x days, plans could be made.
Trouble is that they keep pushing it back at 6/12 hours at a time so no one can make plans
Also the sun is shining brightly in London ..........

Size isn't everything... at the moment I'd make do with a crappy Eurofleet 757 to get us home!
Just been checking on ExpertFlyer and there is no availability from the East Coast until Monday next week.
