Anyone besides me frustrated by the way .bomb responds when it times-out a login? Some pages still show me logged in, others throw up an error page. It often takes 2-3 clicks to convince it to give me a login prompt. The first couple hundred times, I just lived with it. At this point, it's probably cost me a couple of hours of my life trying to get logged in to check an itinerary/seat assignment or any of the other elements that require a login.

And more than once I've begun the flight planning process only to realize that I'm not logged in completely so the flight information is not in the form I want, nor does it have my status, etc.

Anyone got a clean way around this?

crazy MP account mix up online

Wow. UA online is a little scary (like that is something new)! I just finished booking flights for myself and a traveling companion online. I logged in to my account, bought the ticket, requested the upgrade (miles), and logged out.

Then, not closing my browser or deleting history, which I guess I should have done, I logged in to my friend's account and bought his ticket and requested his upgrade with his miles. I noticed that he didn't have any e-500's listed. Which I know he has. So after that itinerary was done I went searching for where I could see his e-500 balance. When I found it, it had HIS name, with MY ACCOUNT NUMBER, and showing MY e-500 BALANCE!

So, I logged out, cleared history, closed the browser, then went back and logged in again for him and it was now showing an appropriate e-500 balance for him (quite a bit less than mine) and there was no sign of my name or MP number. I made sure the flights that were purchased were indeed under his MP number and his miles used for upgrades. But wow - how after purchasing tickets it went back to my account number for e-500's, particularly when his name became associated with my account number is just darn scary! (and I didn't print the screen showing it ... should have thought of that, but I actually panicked in a WTH kinda way)...

As there are many IT techies on this forum, I'm sure we'll get more pithy comments than mine,. But I would hazard to guess that it is not true that your friends name became "associated" with data from your account or vice-versa, but merely the quantities displayed on your own browser were incorrect, as they had not been zeroed and refreshed/replaced with accurate values from the other account. So although this is bewildering and misleading and aggravating and could indeed lead to unintended customer decisions if you don't recognize the issue (which you obviously did), I'd be surprised if there were truly a risk of one person expending resources (miles, upgrades, etc.) that actually don't belong to him.

I actually thought you would be right. But...

I just went back into my account to verify the -777 version I am taking and my MP account has been wiped out of 120,000 miles!!! That is 60,000 for me and 60,000 for my friend!!!

We know the ticket was issued under his account, because all his data came up, name, address, email. He got an email on the purchase, I didn't. After the purchase I did not log out; I did not leave the web site. I went to "My Itineraries", pulled up his new one, went down and put in the upgrade request. His name was always showing on the left edge identifying the log in account.

I have also looked into my friend's account and the mile balance hasn't been touched.

Now I gotta deal with this tonight.....

UA's press release on free wifi from 2 days ago on their own website - http://ir.united.com/phoenix.zhtml?c...cle&ID=1358530

The URL mentioned in that article "For more information" - united.com/Wi-Fi

If you're reading this thread, I'm sure you can guess how this story ends...

That's pretty strange, indeed. I have certainly jumped around between my account and my wife's, always logging out of one and then logging in to the other, and not doing obsessive things like restarting the browser ro clearing cache, and never had such a problem. Including when purchasing tix or buying with miles.

You're right, you need to deal with it while it's hot. I hope it's not a big hassle but you may need to get your friend involved as they can be pretty cautious over the phone about whether you are or are not the account holder.

This happens to me frequently...It's a cache issue, that's all. I often toggle between 3-4 MP accounts at the same time (mine, wife's, dad's, employee's, etc). I am now just in the habit of closing the browser after I log out.

To take it a step further, if I have a schedule change and call UA to 'clean it up', unless I log out, that itinerary will continue to show up with the red 'schedule change' notation.

FWIW, I use Firefox. But I remember having to do the same back when I used IE.

For some reason .bomb stores weird state on the client side. Be glad it's not your bank!

This is why I always use Chrome for my own account, IE for my wife's, and if ever needed, Firefox for anyone else

Not sure what's going on, but I just got someone's itin (have no idea who this person is) emailed from .com. Looks like he just purchased it today. Had to doublecheck to make sure nothing happened to my accounnt.

seatmaps

So I booked two tickets tonight, and the seatmaps are jacked up. When you select them it shows no seat assignment and now rows just A-B-C...etc.

So wierd.

It has been going on since yesterday (at least).

It happens whether you book on united.com or add you M+ number to an itin booked on another web site.

I had to use task manager to kill firefox and log in again in order to get seat maps.
