Capella Pedregal
Opened July 13. Stopped in for a quick weekend visit July 17, and found the hotel to be superbly inviting and serene. Very quiet and isolated beach which is accessible only via a very long tunnel to the far end of Downtown Cabo. Would highly recommend paying a visit to this fabulous little resort, which has all of the charm of a small hotel but with every amenity of a large resort. General Manager and staff are ideally in synch, especially considering the property had only been open for a few days. For a 4-day old hotel, it is oozing with soul. Go now while the deals are good.

banyan tree mayakoba is also getting rave reports here. regular rates are best value.
the latter 2 also have pretty good locations, within gated communities.
to the east of capella is more resorts >

the pedregal estate development, to the west, has a more private beach.

Service
Service was pretty great. It was very human with incredible intentions. There were certainly a few hiccups present on their 4th day of operation, but that is to be expected. I did hear a few guests comment that the concierge ("personal assistant") service at Capella paled in comparison to the majordomo service at Las Ventanas, but I personally don't like butler kind of services... I hate having someone in my face all of the time, but like having them at arm's length in case I need something or have a question. I found the staff at Capella to be charming, available, ready, and empowered. This after 4 days, and you can expect that the GM will have all of the kinks worked out by the time that high season rolls around for sure. GO GO GO.

The GM at Capella is Peter Bowling, who opened Capella Castlemartyr near Cork, Ireland. I do hope that standards here do not decline in the same way, although I suspect they have rather more solid owners at Pedregal, so ongoing investment should be better.

We intend to stay at the Capella Pedregal this August.
Could anybody explain the differences between the 2BR villas and 2BR casitas (both at same price).
Which 2BR accomodation would you choose ?
