- FAKE Setai San Diego: in legal disputes over the name with the original brand-name-owners. Opening in October 2008, not managed by GHM, http://www.setaisandiego.com.

The Setai Group alleged that it was mislead by Rebeil about his past legal problems and his ability to bring other hotel properties to the proposed partnership.
Rebeil's past includes a 2004 tax-related felony conviction and subsequent incarceration, and the denial of a casino gaming license in 1997 after Nevada regulators deemed him to “lack good character, honesty and integrity.”
The Setai lawsuit claims that Rebeil's felony conviction, which Setai alleged was not properly disclosed, disqualifies Rebeil from having any ownership interest in a Setai project involving a casino or liquor license in Nevada or California.

Gallivanter rumors about Portugal & Mexico + off-topic Aquapura/Warapuru
According to Gallivanter's Guide Dec 2008, the Aman-projects in Portugal, which were here discussed before, are still in the rumor-status - and they rumor Kerry Hill as the architect of the Porto property and Jean-Michel Gathy as architect for Duoro. Whilst NOT mentoning the also here discussed Aman-Comporta-project.
The Estero Santa Barbara project in Mexico is also mentioned with Gathy as architect.
By the way and off topic, Gallivanter also rumors about a 2009 opening of Aquapura Itacar (formerly Ex-Russ-Meyer-Actress' Annouska Hempels Warapuru-project) in the cocoa zone of Bahia, Brazil. And about a 2011 opening of Aquapura Cear on Brazils atlantic coast. Very promising design sketches of both properties are shown on www.aquapurahotels.com.

.or somewhere very close to it ........she has designed a beautiful preperty in Brazil that is STUNNING ...........i wonder if its the same place Zehca was talkig about ...??kind of looks like Trisara except not sure about how far the villas are from the beach.
there are 18 villas, 3BR 8K ft2 > 6BR 16K ft2 (on ~1 acre)
Solstice's [will be] 5BR. (~13.3K ft2?) with 5 pools

was originally 2008, now 2009, but where does construction stand?
Our house in Brazil was slated to open in the fall, but it’s been slow down there. Look for it late summer or early fall 2009.

I went to the site and here it is what they say: New Aquapura, in Itacaré, na Bahia: stoped by Ibama (Brazilian institute to preserve nature).
The works on site are now stopped, and rumors say that the owners are with financial problems.
The Anouska Hempel project is now mentioned as an hangar for UFOs !!!
It should be opened in 2008 but now no one knows when it is going to be...
I also heard from a trusted source that Adrian Zecha visited the site last October by invitation of the owner Diogo Vaz Guedes. They want AZ to open an Aman there, but Aman Resorts never opens a resort when the project is not made from the start by them (well it is Anouska Hempel a friend of Zecha...)

Well as far as I know Mahakua Hacienda San Antonio never was Aman, Umaid Bhawan is not an Aman, Bora Bora, Le Melezin and Amangalla were completed renewed when aman took over (Bora Bora is again close for renovations).
Warapuru is a brand new bilding and the architecture has some things that does not go along with Aman concept - believe me , I was there ...

....then again .... there was burnham beeches , milton park , carcosa seri negara and the strand - [ which became a ghm....during the "colony' period...] ....
having said that warapuru is definately not aman pedigree.........imo

Chateau de bagnols may have been a Rocco Forte property at one stage but it was an aman for quite a long time.
Umaid Bhawan was an aman for a short period and Mahakua became an aman when Adrian returned to Amanresorts.

If u have more information about Amantaka, it would be amazing to have it. I've asked to the Aman management and they just send me the factsheet but it's not yet possible to book...

Milocer opening was fake - real opening end of february earliest...
German weekly "Wirtschaftswoche" is reporting the real, bookable Aman Villa Milocer opening for "end of february", and the opening of Aman Sveti Stefan for "Summer 2009". So the opening in december was just a fake, just a political show...
I won't believe anything anyway before the new resorts show up as bookable on the Aman homepage...
