Does SAS hate IAD?

This is the second time the Advent sale has skipped IAD. I tried to get a Paris flight this AM and there were NO FLIGHTS for IAD. Same thing happened with Milan recently. Last year I didn't have this problem.

Does anybody know if SAS is leaving IAD out of this promotion for selected cities? It is very unlikely that every seat for every day of the promo was sold out for those two cities by 8AM each day.

Any ideas what's happening?

Well, I don't know if any of this has any relation to truth, but you asked for ideas, so here is mine...

You have to remember that SAS only has one daily flight between IAD and Europe that is shared for all of the christmas calendar special offers from and to IAD. This means that towards the end of the calendar, the booking class used for the offer (W in my tickets) on the IAD-CPH and CPH-IAD legs tends to fill up.

The problem doesn't seem to be as bad from ORD or EWR, since both of them have two daily SAS flights to Europe. I guess that the flights from SEA are just less busy in general.

If my idea happens to be true, I really can't see how the situation could improve for the remaining days of the calendar.

That is, unless SAS allocates more seats to the W booking class, of course...

SK 925/926 look pretty full in the beginning of January, but there's plenty of W availability later.

One of the reasons might be that because the flight is actually only 5x weekly, they don't want to fill it up with low fare pax.

Just checked today's offer to Copenhagen, and it sure does look like there is lots of availability in January. Maybe SAS has released more seats to this campaign? I find it hard to imagine that the flights CPH-CDG (and CPH-LIN/MPX) would be the bottleneck.

Anyway, I'd recommend checking the IAD-CDG again on 24th... just in case SAS opens all the previous offers then, like they apparently did last year.
