Do flights for points count as qualifying flights?

If I book a trip for points (on SK metal) does it still count towards my status (I collect number of flights, not points, for status)?

Thanks!

It depends how you booked. If it's an award flight it won't count as CPH-Flyer wrote, but if you used point instead of cash or points and cash it will.

Thank you, both!

I think I will take the award sale then, and then add a mileage run in in the fall, if I need it (or should that be a segment run?).

Obviously depends... if you are just 4 flights short to qualify by segments but need 15.000 basic points a segment run probably more economic than a mileage run. If you are 5.000 points short but 10 segments, probably a mileage run would be more suitable.

Yes, sorry. It will be a segment run, if needed (I never qualify on points, I am too cheap, and don't travel enough to get the miles in low fares classes). I just had never heard the term "segment run", so wasn't sure if people would call it that, or just always use "mileage run".

I booked my travel in the awards sale, it was too good to pass up.

Thanks, all.
