The first SK A350 was rolled out of the paint booth yesterday https://www.airliners.net/forum/view...ec89&start=900 Hope we will soon see some pictures.

On top of that. SK have 3 A320's in XFW which were spotted almost 2 months ago in full CS, but haven't been in the air yet. Wonder whether they are being hold back so they can get the new livery before delivery.

tsastor Sep 20, 2019 10:10 pm

Nice livery and I especially like the engines. SAS SAS kind of spoils it for me though. If the front SAS had been a longship dragon appearing from the mist, that would have been something!

And finally we have a picture of the first SK A350 in the new livery

Here is a better picture of the first SK bird in the new livery

I might be the only one but I think this new livery is horrible and a big step backwards from the current one.

SAS in big letters once on each side of the plane is enough, twice says they were unimaginative and boring.

GUWonder Oct 4, 2019 6:49 am

It could be worse, and certainly doesn't rub my eyes the wrong way as much as some other airline's changed livery has previously.

Is there a *right* way to rub one's eyes? :D

I agree, it is boring! I miss the colourful engines and most of all the ‘Scandinavian Airlines’ on the fuselage.

SK2751 Oct 5, 2019 10:45 am

I also think it is less terrible than expected. I think it will be fine. But I agree the old design looked much more professional (with the subtle Scandinavian Airlines on the fuselage and the red engines). This design looks a bit like made by an intern in the marketing department. I would probably preferred if they combined the new tail design with the old fuselage and engines. But it could have been much worse. I won't be ashamed boarding this though.

longliveKA Oct 6, 2019 8:25 am

The old livery was a pain to paint with over 5 different colours to apply. Plus the colour combination made the aircraft look like a cheap hooker. Still, while expensive and time consuming to apply, it had a least the advantage to leave some kind of impression on the passengers. The new livery is just... bland, souless and the perfect fit to an airline that leaves travellers indiferent. The 1980's stripes and national shields was so much more personal and stylish....

If anything the new livery is more complex to paint than the old one, so I find this argument strange.

I honestly don't see that much difference between the old and new livery. The biggest change in my view is the change from red to blue on the engines and the blue tail.
Unless you put 2 birds next to each other, I think most pax's will have a hard time telling you what is old and what is new on the livery.

Which is think is positive. It is one possible way to change your look: keep the old look & feel, but become more modern imperceptibly. LO did this a few years back with very (IMHO) good result. Most pax did not notice but the outcome looks much more modern. (they also had a few planes painted in a bold, completely disruptive, style of folk paper cut-outs, which, I thouth, were really cool. These design did not seem to stick though).

Looks like this one could be the first A320 delivered in the new livery. It hasn't been in the air yet, and there are 3 other A320 in XFW in the old livery which hasn't been in the air yet either.

Alternatively this one in TLS which has been in the air (test flight and ferried to CHR for paint), but is still not painted.

Is it a fixed feature of the A320NEO to have the black mask around the cockpit windows like the A350? It. Does look good on the A320 though.

Must be a special (or new) option, none of the older A320NEOs I have seen elsewhere do have it.

I haven't noticed that before, but I agree it looks good. It dosen't look to be leftovers from the preparation for painting, so it's probably part of the new livery.

oliver2002 Oct 14, 2019 4:32 am

I doubt they will repaint new A320s even if they haven't been delivered yet.

Dover2Golf Oct 14, 2019 6:57 am

Iberia Neos wear the mask but I haven't seen it anywhere else.

Air Canada has the mask on all aircraft types:

RoyalSwazi Oct 14, 2019 12:57 pm

Supposedly they will paint the mask on the 737s as well. Can’t remember where I read it, though. Regardless it’s a massive upgrade from the current livery which make the aircraft look dirty, with the red reminding me of what red cars look like in Australia after a few years.

ImportViking Oct 16, 2019 3:07 am

Quite a copy/paste of Lufthansa and the likes, who have been doing this for years now. Not at all original, actually quite boring to be honest. The red engine covers made it recognizable. It therefore actually fits SK quite nicely: showing off to be conservative and a few years behind the market developments, while lacking creativity and inspiration to truly excel on any point.

+1, so true!

It looks like it was SE-ROJ https://aibfamily.flights/A320/9312, which managed to be the first bird to take to the air in the new livery, although only on a test/ferry flight.

highupinthesky Nov 13, 2019 11:38 am

SE-ROJ looks to be the first bird to be delivered to SK in the new livery. It did the customer acceptance test earlier today. https://aibfamily.flights/A320/9312 Unless there were some issues, it will probably be delivered tomorrow or Friday.

oliver2002 Nov 13, 2019 1:15 pm

Just saw this original 1989 A320 image and was surprised to see how much the LH and SAS Eurowhite has in common with the original A320 tail. Nowadays LATAM and Aegean also have the Eurowhite setup... which was pioneered by AF?

highupinthesky Nov 15, 2019 7:19 am

SE-ROJ is the first bird in the new livery to be delivered to SK. It's currently on it's way to ARN. https://aibfamily.flights/A320/9312 Not sure whether they will install the internet before it goes into scheduled operation. They haven't with the last 2 birds which were delivered late last month, early this month. Never the less. This bird will most likely be the first bird to do a revenue flight in the new livery.

highupinthesky Nov 21, 2019 11:23 am

It looks like SE-ROJ were the first bird to do a revenue flight in the new livery. The flight took place on November 19 2019. https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/se-roj
