Europe-USA Award ticket availability Christmas

i am trying to redeem award tickets from Oslo-Miami, and have been tracking available Tickets daily for the last month, but it seems that no tickets are made available (SAS) between 15th December - 8.January. Does this reflect SAS policy; that no award tickets are made available during Christmas holidays?

In recent years SAS has been very difficult to find awards around holidays, especially Christmas. I think we debated this last year, which ranged from extremely limited availability to black out. Either way, it is not good.

I have given up on finding SAS awards during Christmas and switched to partner awards (well, not United). At this point I would not expect anything to open up.

Yep that was me last year.

Nope, it did not go well. Award availability was nonexistent for pretty much all of the transatlantic routes I staked for months. Granted, I was mostly looking for business but as I recall, there was a whole lot of mostly nothing through the second half of December.

I ended up booking on a fare special with Air France in business to see if I wanted to branch out to SkyTeam (and came running back SAS afterwards which made me sad because I love all things France usually - I've been scarred).

In the last five years, I have been able book transatlantic SAS business award seats around Christmas on four separate occasions, but only in one direction each time, so my success rate is 40% (4 out of 10 transatlantic one-ways).
Whatever seats they make make available are grabbed in the first couple of days after release, and they are not likely to release more.

I also like all things France, but not AF. So perhaps the problem is now with us ?

I dunno but when meal service on the overnight coming back to Europe is even slower than SAS, there's a problem..
