Looking at WAS-CPH the youth fares (O fares in line 29-32) are a bit cheaper, but only return fares loaded:

SAS Youth fare to/from China, Hong Kong, Japan and USA Amendments to SAS Youth concept - now also valid from Asia and USA. Eligibility Valid for youth 0-25 years of age. The outbound travel must commence before the passenger has reached his/hers 26th birthday. Even if the passenger turns 26 years during the trip, ticket may be used within its validity. Youth under 12 years must travel with adult 16 years or older. Passenger must present a valid ID at the gate. Fare not valid for unaccompanied minor (UM). Amendments to Youth concept From 15MAR16, updates of the Youth concept from Scandinavia to Asia and USA. New booking class: O-class Fare basis: O_FZZRT - rebooking free of charge. Fare basis: O_ZZRT - with rebooking fee. The youth fares in K, L, T-class will be discontinued from 15MAR16. For tickets issued on/before 15MAR16, old fare rules apply. Note: No change in fare rules. From 22MAR16, Youth concept also introduced from Asia to Scandinavia and Europe and from USA to Scandinavia and Finland. It was announced that the new youth one-way fares are for trips to/from USA.
It seems there are also youth fares to/from Asia, but only as return flights. It would be great if SAS also offered one-way fares to Asia. There shouldn't be any visa issues as long as the pax has a return flight with any carrier - doesn't have to be SAS. Gives more flexibility.

I'm guessing this is an attempt to compete with Norwegian on price/flexibility for the all important student holiday/gap year market.
I have to say I'm pretty impressed - I've been looking at dates in August and OSL-EWR comes out at around 3000 NOK/£360 for a flexible return.
The fares only seem to be available from OSL/CPH/ARN. The SK website won't let you search for journeys beginning in my normal starting points of LHR and HEL.

I think it's a good option for mixing and matching your own RT/OJ trip. For example, I'm thinking of going SK OSL-EWR then using some avios for a BOS-DUB business one way on Aer Lingus. Get LON/HEL-OSL and DUB-LON for cheap and it's a winner!

My ideal US itinerary involves arriving at my destination airport, either directly or after a connecting flight in Europe. Similar to my return where I want to arrive at my "home" airport rather than somewhere else, I don't mind a US domestic before the long haul.
Only possible with one-way fares (if you don't live next to LHR/FRA), which I occasionally have done with award tickets.

Of course you can buy the tickets even though being older but SK would be full in their right to refuse boarding. I guess the chances are quite low that they will spot that during check-in or boarding but not sure it is worth the risk.
Why not buy a cash+points ticket instead for that purpose?

Even if the conditions says that the passenger has to show ID at the gate, I am fairly certain that the system does check against the birthday details in the booking, or when the passport is swiped at check in.

I was looking at the website, you have to be logged in as a Eurobonus member to book a youth fare. If they allow you to book for yourself outside of the age range.... Well, then internal audit should fry a few people.
