Diamond package?

Hi,

can you share what you got for the Diamond package?

1) got the Diamond Mastercard and the baggage tags (which end up in the drawer anyway) a few days after hitting the 100k

2) a Gold SmartPass a couple of days later. No idea why since they already send me one after I hit Gold again, also ended up in the drawer with the bagage tags)

3) No new AMEX for weeks. I guess they will send a new one out soon as my current one expires 10/14.

By the way, am I the only one who thinks the credit card and baggage tag design is pretty bad? The silver and black looks incredible cheap in my opinion. But the golden cards look bad as well, so there it is at least consistent

I actually thought that Diamond looked better than gold. But yesterday I was destroying a 3 years old Mastercard EB silver card, and I thought that it looked way better than any of the cards I have received recently, including gold and diamond

The new cards in general look worse than the previous ones in my opion. Now they look really cheap and "fake", while the old ones had the same feeling as a credit card which is OK. Same goes with the tags, they don't really look nice. Should have done like many other airlines and "pressed out" the names on the tags (not printed like on Pandion tags) and made it a bit less ugly.

Let's see, here's what I got:

1) weeks after turning Diamond, I got a mastercard

2) even a week or so later I got 2 luggage tags

3) months after turning Diamond I got a SmartPass

I haven't received any 'normal' EBD card yet, so I'll just rerequest one. I'm not comfortable with just handing out my credit card to a lot of people or having my credit card with me on every trip I make.

When it comes to design, I think it's a big step forward from what we had. We came from a situation which is exemplary from Scandinavian thinking: all cards look the same and have the same boring gray design. There's just a small strip on the bottom indicating you may have a different status (although it's difficult to see the difference between silver and basic. Even basic looked like a gold card that's been in the sun too long). Now at least it's clean that a gold card is gold, a silver card is silver and a basic card is Norwegian blue. And diamond is of course black (anyone ever heard of a black diamond before? I heard of a pink one. They made movies about it. I also heard of blue diamonds, they're singing. Never heard about black diamonds, though...).

That is so typical Scandinavian again: "Don't think you're special as a diamond! You are just compressed charcoal!"

Shall we call ourselves EuroBonus Compressed Charcoal tier members now as well?

There are special "Black Diamonds"... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbonado

Also, "Black" cards were the exclusive super elite cards long time ago like the Amex Centurion when it was introduced and the waiter picked it up with a lot of respect at the time when you placed it on the table

So I'm not against a black card or black in combination with Diamond - even though I think it is not a good match - but I think the cards just look incredible cheap.

Anyway, did anyone receive a Diamond SmartPass?

Yes, I did

edit:

Yes, I know about 'black diamond'. If you look on the wiki site there's even half a million uses for the term: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Diamond
I was just trying to joke around a little bit...

So true, just so true this got a good laugh from me.
I am 15K off this compressed charcoal and not being encouraged to get it anyway.

Jante law all the bloody time combined with largolm just doesn't encourage any drive or ambition even at the top.

Was upgraded to diamond in May:

Never received a 'package' - only new cards
Never received diamond bagage tags
Never recieved diamond smart pass
Never recieved my selected 'goodiebag'

Besides the gold card i requested for my brother that went through, I think the added value of diamond is a joke when you consider the number of points/flights required to reach it.

Sorry for any typos.

@Hafnia: I don't think there's a 'package': the package referred to here contains the new card, the luggage tags, the smart pass and maybe the credit card(s).

I haven't selected anything from the goodie bag, as there's nothing of interest for me. I agree, the current benefits are slim. They announced a good deal more things, but I haven't seen much of it yet (like for example extra accessibility to bonus trips and so for compressed charcoals). Oh well, I made someone very happy with the gold card.

I suggest you contact SK via their contact form or phone to ask what's going on with you.

@ultrarant by 'package' I meant what can be see in pictures here http://www.businessclass.dk/de-foers...elkomstpakken/

I have contacted SAS at least two times via the online chat. Each time I have been informed so such things as diamond tags and smart passes do not/not exist, only the gold version which made me give up and added to the impression of the "very exclusive top tier" for 100,000 points as a joke.

Sorry for any typos.

Oh wow, I didn't even know something like that existed! I just got my things sent separately in the mail in regular air mail envelopes.

It's unbelievable that SAS denies its own products, but then again, that's SAS. I always just hope they're better at airplane maintenance and flying than anything else...

I also just received the cards and tags via regular mail - not a real 'package'.

The Diamond bag tags came in the same envelope as the EB Mastercard. So obviously SEB did send them to me.

If you want the bag tags try to request new ones through the EuroBonus portal, there is an option to request new bag tags, EB cards and SmartPass tags.

Perhaps they send you the right color... Or if you live in Sweden send me your address via PN and I will send you the bag tags, I have no use for them.

Have not found any use for the SmartPass either so I don't care that I didn't get the 'right' one. Should my phone running the SAS app die I can still swipe the card.

If they want to be 'smart' they could just send the encoded information for people having NFC compatible phones rather than putting an ugly sticker on it.

I think I have found a new project - soft copy the tag into the phone.

Anyway I hate the inconsistency here....
