SAS App

Had to laugh today when I fiddled around with the date/time on my mobile phone, and managed to work out the SAS App is using this information to open OLCI. So feel free to check in and select your seat via the mobile app at any time by just changing the date and time on your phone to less than 22 hours before due departure. Awful coding!

Haha XD
This will be fun.

Not totally incredible though. I have some BAD experience on the contrary: I once paid a metro/underground ticket with my mobile phone and got a fine as "ticket-less" travel and the reason was that my phone time was few minutes wrong. I worked all the ways to claim this in court as far it was free but I lost the case and did not want to spend money going higher in court

So be careful with mobile apps

Did we really expect anything else from SAS IT? That department is really pulling the company down beyond anything.

I would expect the flight would need to be open for check-in f from a central system perspective as well for this to work. Due to connecting flights from long haul, that will be more than 22 hours in advance. But of you do it a week in advance does this still work? (don't have a SAS booking currently to play with)

I have a booking for the 13th March. Just changed the date and it unlocks Check In via the app. However, after clicking the button it then fails (Internet check-in not possible -Please contact manual check-in at the airport). So as you say, some backend system has to be open also. But that may happen from T-72 or less perhaps. Will do some testing in the days towards this booking to find out!

On the central system, it must be open plenty in advance because EBG members can pick their seats straight after booking... I've never really booked more than a couple of months in advance, so I don't know if there is a limit to this, but check-in has always been open to me...

Are we confusing checkin with seat selection here?

My guess would be that it opens somewhere in the 48 to 32 hour range. But really just a guess.

Most likely never... Market share is low, and MS does not seem to be aggressive in encouraging companies to put out apps.

Probably never.

The SAS app is not even available for iPhone users who just use the US "store".

I had to toy around in order to get the SAS app on my iPhone.

One way that usually works on Android is to borrow a SIM card from a country that allows the app. This does require that your phone is not locked to your network provider.

There is a huge difference in choosing a seat and checking in.

In this thread, FlightCancelled seems to know, that it is possible to do the real trick 36 hours before departure.
