SK actually selling C this summer!
I'm booked to fly to ORD in C (J fare 2320€ all in) this month and it looks like they are actually selling C, and not zeroing out fare classes to accommodate op-ups from M:

If you don't mind me asking, I have noticed that you once in a while fly SK C to US instead of LH. How come? Is it because you visit your swedish girlfriend during a stop over, or do you simply rate SK C over LH C? Or is it a cost issue?

The last few years they have actually had some good Z fares. Before 06 when this started, sk was out of reach for me for the most part since i dont have a large scandinaviand corporation with huge sk discounts picking up the tab. Its been very good lately though. Swiss is however quite agressive from norway this year with a lot of good J fares that are changeable and refundable, something z on sk is not.
Anyhow, good for SAS, they have a nice C product

I've got a weird question - I'm getting a good fare for SVO-IAD through CPH in C via Expedia and Orbitz for this winter's holiday season ($2600 rt ai). When I try and look up the fare rules, it won't give me the fare code or the restrictions before purchase. On the SAS website, it says European C class fares are fully flexible. Does this hold true for the C fares to the US as well? If not, do you all have any suggestions to find out the restrictions on this ticket before purchase?
I'd like to purchase, but there is always a small chance I might not be able to get the exact days off.

If this is a SK Z class fare it will not be flexible or refundable...The fare rules for European and longhaul dest. are not the same.
Try to find the same fare on the SK web-page and look up the ticket rules. I doubt this is some kind of special fare restricted to Exp. and Orbitz only.

Thanks for the advice! I've been trying to do this an get an error each time I try. I'm on a Mac using Chrome (tried in Firefox as well) and understand this can be a problem. I'll try tomorrow on a PC with IE.

Good for SK! They really need som positive trends now. I also read something in Dagens Industri (http://di.se) that SK had over 95% cabin load factor on US and Asian flights during the summer. ^
Isn't it because SAS have grounded and/or gotten rid of planes and therefor the cabin load factor have gone up?
I haven't followed along in the development of SAS's acquisitions / selling of hardware but I believe I read somewhere that SAS had grounded at least one A340 at CPH and had gotten rid of leased L/H planes
Could someone clarify?
When it comes to statistics I don't take anything at face value and especially when it involves SAS

I haven't got data to compare the size of the traffic program this summer with summers historically but coming out of the crisis they've been in I don't think it's necessary; I think it's encouraging enough to see that they achieve a healthy 93% load factor (in June, even higher in July I've heard) on the flights that operated. It's a sign of strength for the product and good to see that Intercont hit the ground running coming out the crisis.
- How many cancelations did SAS have during the summer period forcing stranded PAX to board a later SAS flight?
- Did other non alliance airlines suffer many cancelations that operate on the same route(s) as SAS?
Now the load factor was based on the US and Asian numbers, in which many routs had been axed and drastically reduced from earlier so of course the load factor was better and therefor higher
Now this clearly shows that just because the airline has a high load factor it doesn't mean that it's product is good. When it comes to SAS it's by far the norm IMO as they don't have a name worthy product

My colleague is trying to be on an earlier flight (friday or saturday instead of sunday) and SK is really sold out over the atlantic, even coming back . What bugs me is that M is very much oversold and since C is sold its going to cause a bad crunch if all show. Considering its summer vacation time and these are mostly leisure travellers all will show. I just hope my flight from MUC is not late as we have a 70 min connection and the ORD flight will be dispatched on time if it helps them relieve the oversold situation... Thank god LH434 is open in C, so that should provide an alternative in case SK1661 is late:

Overall I am not a huge fan of SK anymore, but their Y+ and C product on longhaul is IMO very solid in most aspects.
