Earnings to one program and status from another?

I am in the situation that I have EBG secured until FEB 2012 - so for the rest of the year I would like to build some status and collect miles to M&M instead of EB. What status benefits from EBG can I continue to use even if I register my M&M number in the reservation or at CI?

Some are more obvious - like using *G lounge and fasttrack by showing my EBG-card, but more luggage and hoping for op-ups is probably out of the question?! Any other who's been in the same situation and know how to handle this in the best possible way?

I have searched the forum but not found this discussed before. Hope I haven't missed anything obvious...

I have just tried the same with very mixed luck. You can read more about it in this thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/star-...g-benefit.html

Scroll down to post 7 where someone asks the same that you are asking and read on from there.

Some of the *A carriers supports dual FF numbers, tell the CI agent to enter:
FQTV# for earning miles
FQTS# for status

I only heard that UA supports that. Do you know any other by any chance?

In theory it will work for all airlines and any good travel agent will be able to enter it in your system.

However, even though it is recognised by the airline in the system the staff may not see it. Last year I had my BD gold status confirmed in the booking by TG but were collecting my points to SK, on the same pnr as my wife. My brother travelling on a separate pnr with three non-status companions had his EBG for both status and earnings.

Upon check-in all passengers in my brother's pnr were upgraded to C but my wife and I sat in the back (I was pretty bitter for while there).

So although everything was done correctly the TG agents only saw my non-status program. Thus I would rather book the program with status as earnings program and then change it at the gate. Of course if you have an unhelpful gate agent or no time then you risk crediting to the wrong program.

Warning: By experience this is likely to fail. The gate agents often either refuse to change the FFP No. or screw it up so you receive no points. Try collecting BD points with SK*G written on your BPs...

Make up your mind at check-in. Either you use the FFP status or go for the miles under a different FFP. Not both...

According to Continental it must be the *G number that is in the reservation for the *G benefits. I got a reply to my email about that previously;

We are booked on SAS for June to CPH from EWR. The only way I could get my G number on the reservation beforehand was to book our flights with Orbitz. The SAS online booking did not have Continental One Pass accounts as a choice... Orbitz allowed us to put in our Continental one pass numbers for our flights to Copenhagen.

I hope you didn't spend extra money on Orbitz for this. You could have just left the FF-program-boxes empty, and called/chatted with SAS after the reservation to have your numbers included.

No extra booking fees, the fare I paid is the same fare on SAS...
