So, just looking to make a reservation with ParkSFO, and upon doing so, there are instructions to enter the lot via QR code (with app), but it says if your license plate is recognized, the gate will automatically open. I have never put my vehicle details into my account/app, but if I do, does that mean I should be able to enter/exit the lot without the QR code at all? Anybody tried or normally use this. Is this new, or something I never noticed?

I’ve recently used LTP more recently as the promos have been better, but looks like ParkSFO is more favorable for my next trip, and I’ve honestly had so much trouble getting the QR codes to scan with the readers at entry/exit my last couple of trips that it has discouraged me from using them at all, so would love to hear if the system actually works. Seamless entry/exit (I assume I’d need to complete payment via app before exiting, where I could also apply the coupons) would make it much easier to use ParkSFO again

Interesting. Haven't had an issue with the QR scanners at LTP (or Domestic/Intl) garages.

Afraid I haven't tried this functionality at ParkSFO. Somewhat related, but I made a parking reservation at SJC earlier this year and it actually required an license plate in order to complete a reservation. The reservation email gave a QR code to use as a backup, but the license plate was supposed to be the primary method of entry/exit. Ended up cancelling the reservation, so didn't get to test it out.

Agree, hate the QR crap - hard to get the correct angle to scan off paper and phones the images can disappear or alerts come in, etc. A big PITA but the only way to get the discounts. The clerks are not happy if you take a ticket and then try to exit with the scan LOL Ditto for OAK though I find OAK is easier to scan.

We got a good one for early April in LTP. I still find that better than ParkSFO in terms of time, so we do that for comparable rates.
Cheers.

Last experience at ParkSFO was so bad I did a tiktok. The shuttle van was awesome (literally arrived when I got to the curb) but it quickly went downhill. The desk attendant flat refused to take my money and insisted that I pay at the exit. Of course the exit scanners were not functional so there was a massive line of cars (think 4 deep) at each exit gate and then everybody had to go pay inside. Wasted 20 minutes when they could have just done their job and processed the tickets inside in the first instance. Not fun at 1am. Never had this problem at SFO domestic or international garage.

sorry, to be clear, I was referring to the QR scanners at ParkSFO as the ones hat give me trouble. Had to pay inside last time. I wouldn’t say the ones at LTP work easily 100% of the time on first attempt. But the ones at ParkSFO are the ones that have given me trouble. If the license scanners work, it would make entry/exit a whole lot more efficient, so was hoping to see if anyone has had a good experience with there.

as for the shuttles, I’ve found ParkSFO to be really good at that in general. Not sure I’ve ever waited more than 5 mins at either garage or airport sides.

I've sat in 30 minute back-ups to exit at the SFO domestic garage.

Yeah, I remember now that I had trouble there once. The scanner wasn't working at all, and I had to back out and go to a manned station.

We've used this 3 or 4 times now and each time there has been a person at every entrance/exit machine.

Cheers.

I had so, so much trouble with the QR readers until one of the attendants showed me the secret. Instead of having your phone facing the scanner, or up near it, keep it a few inches *underneath* the scanner, and facing up (perfectly level, like it's sitting on a table face-up). Ever since I started scanning in that position, I've never had any trouble.
