Definitely go to the Ferry Building, whether or not the Farmer's Market is going on. It is gorgeous and has delicious food and the Embarcadero from there toward the baseball stadium (toward the Bay Bridge) is a great gorgeous walk on a nice day. Check out the new crazy looking rusty looking metal statues there. They are already a huge photo magnet for everyone.

Definitely take some time to meander through Golden Gate Park, maybe in conjunction with a visit to one of the many good Sunset/Richmond Asian restaurants. It's my favorite place no matter what the weather is. I especially recommend the Botanical Gardens, which always have interesting plants even in January! Plus it's free. Great place to jog. And the DeYoung Museum is right there, too.

Also, if you've never done it before, walk or ride a bike across the Golden Gate Bridge. Great views and good exercise, too!

I'll leave the restaurant recommendations to the foodies.

Take a walk, or a bike ride, at Crissy Field.

Try the pastries/lunch at Tartine (a few storefronts down from Delfina at 18t and Guerrero - no sign on the shop, but you will see the line). They also have a restaraunt that is very good - Bar Tartine on Valencia btw 16th and 17th. All of this is walking distance from the 16th St. BART/MUNI stop.

After the pastries/lunch, hang out at Dolores Park and enjoy the view.
