Stinking Rose?

I've been thinking of going to this garlic restaurant for years whenever I visit San Francisco, but I never get around to it.

Is it good? Worthwhile? Just a novelty?

It is good that you have avoided this tourist trap... mediocre food.

Couldn't agree more. Food is definitely mediocre. You'd have better luck picking about any other restaurant in North Beach IMO.

I really liked Michelangelo (Columbus/Union). Great pastas.

Cramped space and long waits though.

Thanks for the replies. I'll pass then. I'm usually in San Francisco for business and I would only subject people to me in a garlic-laden state the next day if it was truly worth it.

Stinking restaurant should be the name of this tourist trap. With so many good restaurants in North Beach and Chinatown, tis better to avoid this one.

I'd give it a "not bad" but I have not been there in quite some time. You can do a lot better within a 5 to 10 minute walk in a myriad of places.

if you really want, you can go once to get it out of your system...but after that, there will really be no reason to revisit.
