Epic Roasthouse

I eat out quite often in San Francisco, and I try to get to new interesting restaurants a lot. I must say, I've now eaten at Epic Roasthouse around 5 times now. It is now one of my favorite places to go.

I first went when it had just opened--around 6 weeks after opening. That first meal was quite bad. The service was off, the food was mediocre, and it was way too expensive.

However, I've now gone back there multiple times since then, and it has just been an incredibly solid, really good food place. In my opinion, this restaurant is now what Boulevard used to be. Boulevard has gone downhill in a bad way; it's expensive, not very good, and over-hyped. Epic, however, is just a very solid place. The ambiance is great, the location is fantastic by the water under the bay bridge, the food is very very solid (always very tasty), and the whole experience is just fantastic. It is a bit on the pricey side, but I really enjoy this restaurant. In the last 3 months, I've gone here 3 times, and each time, I've had a very enjoyable meal.

+1 I've been there three times since it opened. I believe their steak tartar if the best I've ever had. Waterbar next door is also quite good.
