MileSource Shutting Down

Looks like MileSource is no more. Of course, it hasn't been of much use for a while now.

Anybody have any experience with InboxDollars, which they mention below?

From the MileSource website:

November 29, 2007:

After many years in business, it is unfortunately time for our company to move on. We will be shutting down MileSource effective December 31, 2007. Members may continue to earn AwardMilesTM on Milesource through December 31, 2007. In addition we are allowing members to redeem their AwardMilesTM until November 30, 2008.

The Milesource User Agreement states that "unredeemed AwardMilesTM will expire on December 31st of the second calendar year following the calendar year such points are earned." Effective December 31, 2007, any AwardMilesTM earned prior to January 1, 2006 will expire and be removed from your account.

We would like to thank you for your involvement with the MileSource program. If you wish to join another rewards site we suggest you visit InboxDollars, which boasts a membership of over 2.5 million members. We hope it will provide you with as much satisfaction and enjoyment as we have over the years.

Sincerely,
The Milesource Team

Thanks for the headsup! It seems another OP of this thread should take a look of this announcement!

Did you visit pgary's website? I recall his mentioning of InboxDollars.

I use InboxDollars on a regular basis by clicking the emails they send. They pay in a timely fashion. Be careful if you go through them to shop. I had issues with them not recognizing the purchase. There's a conga already started on this thread, so we might want to bump that back up, and use that. As much as I'd love to post my referral link, using the existing conga is the right way to do it, so if you're going to join, please use the last person's link on the existing thread, then post your own, so the next person can use yours.

The one thing Milesource did have (besides pretty bad customer service) was an opportunity to double-dip portals. Shopathome, another mileage portal, was offered on Milesource at a high rate - 25 Airmiles to the dollar, which was between an additional 4% or 12% if you managed to spend enough. So using them on purchases where Shopathome was already competitive was just cream off the top, but you still had to keep after them to get points, their customer service can be completely unresponsive and I haven't yet tried to redeem.

I haven't yet tried to redeem at Inboxdollars either, but I like them so far, especially for having short-ish surveys that pay $1 to augment the email. I know there's a conga for them, and though I think it is a good program, it's a pretty weak referral opportunity. One direct email click earns you .03; it takes around 8 referral clicks to make .01 and you don't make the $5 fee until your referral decides to cash in after making $30 - and since cutting a check has a $3 fee I'm waiting until I accumulate $100 to cash out, so that is that much longer my referee has to wait.

As for shopping, Inboxdollars doesn't generally have the best cash back ratios. That's usually BigCrumbs (as a Crumb Saver rather than earner) or Fatwallet.

I describe it in the Click for Money section of the Click for Miles, Money, and Good Causes page of my website below. I like the program. It has paid me seven times. Its checks have not bounced.
