Points.com Global Exchange

I received an email yesterday announcing this enhancement to points.com. From the limited information available it seems that users can post desired trades rather than convert at the points.com rate. Until I find the downside to this I am looking very favorably at it and may actually use points.com for more than the sign up bonus now. I started my mile collecting before alliances were in place so I have orphans everywhere that i can now shed for miles in my preferred programs hopefully. Does any one have more information on how this will work?

Have had several emails from points.com about this and I too am interested in it but cannot find any other information anywhere about it. I gather too that you can "trade" miles - debating if it will be limited to the amount the airlines set or whether you can trade / transfer say 100K miles to someone which is far in excess of the usual airline limits.

I am also interested.

Remember points.com is there to make $'s, not to help us out.

So the question is how will they make money on these trades?

Hopefully someone will post more info soon, I could not find anything more than the advertisement they e-mailed and posted on their site....

Maybe run the site for free for 6-12 months, then turn all the user info over to the respective programs so that all the accounts can be canceled for violating the program terms. Then points.com gets a bounty for turning in users who violated their program terms... haha

I hope Global Exchange works smoothly. I figure points.com will shave a commission on each trade.

Warning: With regular swaps, points.com has sometimes taken my points and never completed the swap. No response whatsoever from customer service.
