MyPoints Oddities

I've started receiving a heavier volume of emails from MyPoints over the past month (10-20 emails per week), all of which promise at least 5 points for clicking through to the "partner's" site.

I've noticed that I have not received credit for all of the partner's that I have clicked through. It seems that the average is about 20%.

What have your experiences been?

Cheers.

20% seems pretty low. What I've been noticing lately is that maybe 1 to 2 in every 10 mypoints emails now has a link which, if you read closely, does NOT offer 5 points for clicking through. Most often the offer will simply state something like: "Sign up for BMG and receive XXX # of mypoints". It seems they are slipping in advertising, counting on us to respond in a Pavlovian manner, and not paying us for views.

To stop this from becoming more prevalent I would recommend looking a little more closely at every email you receive and trash those that don't say 5 points for clicking on the email. Unless of course you were going to take the offer anyway...

I agree with both statements! Unless it says "Earn 5 points", I don't even waste my time clicking - except the delete button! And if they do, they now post immediately - not "after midnight".

The occasional emails without the 5 points have been around for a while, I believe. They're always either BMG, MyPoints Games or the "7,000 points" sign up emails.

Still, I've noticed mine posting exactly as they have before. Last week I had 27 5-point emails, 2 10-point survey non-qualifiers, 1 25-point email sign-up and 1 50-point email sign-up, for a total of 230 points in a week for doing pretty much nothing. I don't think they've gotten stingy...

Speaking of MyPoints, lately they have been the most reliable of my usual shopping portals for posting points/miles, I really enjoy being able to see the click-thru activity on my account statement right away, proving the shopping experience. I was lured away from MyPoints the past few months while trying to pump up some hotel/air portal balances, and most have proved to be nothing but a headache trying to get what I 'earned'.

Back to the topic on hand, though, my 5 and 10 point email clicks have promptly posted, the only 'problem' is that some of the MyPoints emails come into my inbox, others head right into junk mail, I have to keep checking!
