Got mine this week as well. Not to look a gift horse in the mouth -- after all, free is free -- but the book is chock full of such "smart tips" as: "Think twice about consuming suspect food" (p. 202), "conserve gasoline" (p.66), "be prepared for bad weather" (p.85), and of course, when in Thailand, "drive carefully" (p. 261) and when in Japan, "be careful crossing the street" (p. 258).
This book might be good for the college graduate making his or her first foray in international areas, but for anyone who has traveled even the slightest bit, perusing 384 pages for the odd tidbit out of 1,001 such tips might not be a good use of time.

384 pages. whoa...that's a lotta' tips. I've scrolled thru it, & found a few interesting ones (the ideas on road trip survival are kinda' cool), the ideas on how to "score" an upgrade by "schmoozing" the gate agent, well, I'm not so sure.
I think this would make a great gift for a person wanting to "get in" to travel as a hobby, as there's not too much in here I'd take issue with, and it really spells out a lot of things frequent travellers take for granted or have long since gotten used to.
