Question e-Rewards - NWA $ or points

Hi - still relatively new to e-rewards - is it better to redeem e-rewards for NWA $25 e-certificate or 500 points?
thanks!

read the fine print
there are a lot of restrictions on the cert - min purchased, expiration date, black out dates

regardless of which you choose
you can only do one NWA transaction per year
so it may be wise to build up your credits to the $50 or $100 level before redeeming

GOOD LUCK

Already got my NWA reward for the year... HHonors?

I got my 2000 NWA miles back near the beginning of the year, and am now back up over $100 in my E-Rewards account. I see that I could redeem for some HHonors points, but let me guess, I have to exchange HHonors points for NWA miles in increments of 10,000 or something, right?

I don't know about NW, but the rate from Hilton to AA is 1 point to 5 miles, which isn't very good.

I think it is 1 NW point for every 10 HH points. Horrible conversion.

Could you wait until Jan. 1, 2008 and just get another NW reward? Or does your account expire before then?

Dan, get the HH points only if that is what U really want. As above, the conversion rates from HH into miles are idiotically horrible !
Do another airline now, or wait till January as Winglets suggests, or offer a trade on tCC.

January

Yeah I think I will probably end up waiting til January and then getting the NWA 2000 mile award again. If my balance is sufficiently beyond $100 to pick up some other small reward I might do so at that point.

The Coupon Connection - but according to your post count, you wouldn't be allowed into that forum yet. I think you need 250 posts or something before they'll let you in there...

I wish I had read these posts before. I redeemed for NW miles at the $50.00 level las summer. I have now built it up to over $50 again and just found out you can only get NW rewards once a year. Do the $ you get from erewards expire?

If you are stuck on NWA miles what you might do is transfer $100 erewards (2000 miles) to Continental now, and work on getting your balance up around $100 erewards for January.

Come January transfer the next $100 to Continental where you will have 4k miles.

Between now and January, if you are not using every one of your NW flight segments for elite qualification try to get (2) 500 mile segments credited to your new Continental Onepass Account.

(Or do some shopping at the Onepass mall instead of the NWA mall to get the 1000 miles)

When you get your 5k miles in your onepass account transfer to Amtrak. Amtrak will give you 25k Choice Priviledge Points (new partner). 25k Choice Priviledge points can then be transfered to NWA for 5k miles.

Paraphrasing: In one model of the universe sometimes the shortest distance between two points is a straight line in the opposite direction...

And, after all of this you will have the rest of 2008 to get another $100 erewards for 2k NWA miles!

Anyone have any experience on how long it takes for the miles to post when doing an e-Rewards to CO redemption?
