Since PC points can currently be easily "bought" for $6 per 1K points (in multiples of 5K points) is it really worth it to use your 560 pts for only 2K PC? To me a Southwest $25 gift card for 720 MCR points seems like a much better deal.
I have zero use for anything WN. I won't step foot on that airline. So knowing that is it still a bad deal? Does the CC market trade WN giftcards for say 2500 PC points? Because basiscally if 560 = 2k PC then 720 (or 160 additional MCR points) should yield 2500 PC points correct? |

Here's 2 examples:
15,000 property Option 1: Use points for the entire stay Option 2: Use 10,000 points a night + $30 a night Option 3: Use 5,000 points a night + $60 a night 25,000 property Option 1: Use points for the entire stay Option 2: Use 20,000 points a night + $30 a night Option 3: Use 15,000 points a night + $60 a night Therefore, 2,000 Priority Club points = US$12. If a $25 Southwest Airlines gift card is only 130 more MyCokeRewards points than the 2,000-point Priority Club award, you are theoretically better off redeeming for the Southwest Airlines gift card and trading it with someone who has greater than 2,000 Priority Club points. Someone please correct me if I am wrong on this one... |

As for valuation of WN credits, I would presume you could get something valuable on CC though $25 doesn't buy much these days - not even a cheap hotel room. I would think you could get at least 80% of the value on craigslist, and $20 is still worth more than $12 (value of IC points per calculation above). Of course, your time may be worth more than the effort it will take to dispose of the $25 card. Personally anything I get for drinking coke is a bonus, whether it be a $25 card or 2000 points, both of which have real value to me. ^ |
i referred a friend and he already has 50 points. How long does it take for me to get the 10 points? Just wondering if I didnt do it right or if it takes a while

I believe what they are saying is that with the new option to use both points and cash:...US$30 saves one 5,000 Priority Club points and US$60 saves one 10,000 Priority Club points, both of which is equivalent to $6 for 1,000 Priority Club points.

I "think" i'm following you guys but definitely not 100% following
regardless, I used my first round of 25K on five nights at the Redondo Bch HI in April at the point saver rate of 5K a night. This is strictly what I'm using my MCR/PC points for. I don't stay at the HI chain at all (paid). So I took this deal by MCR to see if I can use the point stretcher/savers at 5K per night and so far I have.. remember also the Budapest 5K on that KLM mistake fare last year.. that was another great use of these points. for me, i'm getting a hundred bucks per 5K points here easily. Future redemptions may vary but I guarantee they will be greater than $30 ($6 per 1K * 5) for each use. Plus keeping me off WN is worth something in itself. that said and done, the methods discussed above are a bit too much work for me to play those games |

Just so nobody misses the key point about the PC points for only $6 per 1K - I wasn't talking about merely using the cash and points redemption to reduce the points needed for an award night but rather people have figured out that when they make a cash and points reservation and then immediately cancel it the points stay in their PC account, i.e. it's a cheap way to increase your PC point balance. As FT'er Me2Earth says post #136 of this thread, "I booked 5 nights ( 1 booking) and cancelled it. Was charged $300 and got 50K points."
However like Trojan I have used 5k PC points for a pointsaver room that would have cost $150/nt, so they have a far higher value to me than the WN card. YMMV. But for the 25k PC room, not such a good deal. |
Southwest Certificates Gone
I just checked and the Southwest certificate is unavailable. Do you think this is permanent or will it come back like the Intercontinental hotel points?
I have exactly 1400 points and was going to bow out of the program by getting a $35 Nike gift card (it's not a great deal, but I can always use new sneakers). I liked the Coke program, but I was getting tired and felt it was time to move on. When the Southwest opportunity came up, I was considering it becuase we will need to fly from LAS to SFO on Southwest next March. However, I was not looking forward to scrambling to get another 320 points to get 1000 points in total for a $25 Nike card. We do not belong to the Intercontinental hotels program, so I was not interested in their points. We have residence in the U.S., but spend only two to three days per month in the U.S., so we can't add to our point value quickly. So I guess I am facing a quandary. |
Login issues
I haven't been able to log in since the site redesign. Am I the only one having a problem. The little coke bottle spins forever and I never advance. If I don't log in, I seem to be able to get to all the pages.
