MyPoints security issue?

Noticed recently while clicking twice in the email address box of MyPoints sign in page that not only my email, but at least a dozen other email address of others appear. These aren't other online names or family members in the household either, these are emails I've never seen before.

Is this just a snafu? Is anyone else seeing the same thing? Just noticed it fairly recently, within the past week and hadn't seen it up until that point.

Anyone with any guesses?

If you're talking about the box that helps you as you type, and lists vertically options, I'm pretty sure you're talking about something that is produced by your browser, in which case this is something on your end, and not really a security issue at all. In FireFox, you can hold Shft+Del to get rid of them one-by-one from the list

Yeah, as rbessler mentioned, (if the option is enabled) double-clicking in a text box produces a list of AutoComplete entries stored by your browser, a feature in both IE and FireFox. For a quick explanation...I know in FireFox, the feature isn't that well designed - any text box on a website has an identifier name in the HTML code of the page, and FireFox stores entries by that name...so if the identifier of the MyPoints login page is "emailaddress," logins on any other site that uses that same identifier in the code of their page will also appear. If another site, however, names their text box simply "email," FireFox will store that separately.

So, assuming that you're looking at the dropdown box that appears in IE or FireFox (you can check Tools --> Internet Options --> Content in IE, or Tools --> Options --> Privacy --> Saved Forms in FireFox), that is data that it stored locally on your computer containing previous logons either on that site, or on a site that has an e-mail login coded similarly. Was it a used computer you bought from someone? It could still contain their data.

If you're talking about the fact that the dropdown will include options from multiple webpages, I think thats intended as a feature rather than a flaw... this way it is more likely that FireFox can help me with common information -- my address, city, state, zip code, email address, etc don't change whether I'm filling out a contest entry, or checking out on a webpage, or what not.

That's an interesting point, you're right about that part....I guess my situation is a little different because I have multiple e-mail addresses that I use based on what I'm using the site for (business vs. personal vs. possibly expecting junk mail from it), so it would seem easier for me if they were separate, but I definitely see what you're saying. In any event, I think this feature is what tcook is talking about...

A brother-in-law when he upgraded his PC, though I didn't think any of those emails I've since delete were anywhere close to any of his, nor did I think he would have tried logging in seeing as he isn't afflicted with the same points/miles disease as I.

As mentioned I cleared all but my regular email address and that seems to have solved the problem for now. Thanks for the ideas, all.
