e-Rewards new e-Alert System

Following on from the Beta test invitation from a few days ago, I've just received an invitation to test e-Rewards new "e-Alert System". Email is reproduced below for those interested.

Dear xxxxxx,

Thanks for joining the team that will Beta test the new
e-Rewards Web site! We've been working hard to make the
Web site easier to use, but we didn't stop there. We
thought you'd like an easier way to receive your e-Rewards
earning opportunities.

Introducing the e-Rewards e-Alert Service. Leading corporations
and news services use this software to deliver product
announcements, movie buzz, breaking news bulletins, and more,
directly to the computer desktop. We're glad to join other innovative
companies that are keeping their customers "in the know".

We'd like to invite you to try e-Alert and get $2 in
e-Rewards currency. Just follow the link below:

http://xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Or, copy the URL into your browser navigation window.

We value your time!
The e-Rewards Team

Just downloaded it. Simply puts an icon on your status bar at the bottom that will automatically notify you when there is an earning opportunity. It allows E-Rewards instant access to those of us who are die-hard E-rewards earners. The Beta web-site is different in format and layout yet almost exactly the same in content as the old site. Hopefully the earning opportunities will increase in frequency and amount. Time will tell.

Sounds like adware/spyware to me. I'd be leery of downloading any software that accesses the Internet, stays on my desktop and pops up "alerts"...

I did not get a beta invitation or an e-mail to try the alert but could log in at beta.e-rewards.com to get the $2.00 reward.
