I've gotten approximately 20 emails in the 4 weeks that I've been a member.
It took me 3 weeks (well, 22 days) before I had the $25 to redeem for 550 AA miles.
I got a confirmation of the redemption only a few minutes after I requested it on 2 Dec; I didn't notice them show up in my AA account until today (6 Dec) or 4 days (though on AA they're dated 2 Dec).

I, too, had failed to notice the 'one redemption per year' restriction, though I'm new enough to e-Rewards for it not to matter (I don't think I'll get to my 2nd $25 before the end of this year)...and next year I'll just hold out for $100 before redeeming.

Is it still taking folks 10-14 days for their e-rewards redemption to post to their AA accounts? The Hilton and NW redemptions offer near-instant posting.

My recent experience with redemption was exactly the same, NW posted immediately, I'm still waiting for AA.

Yes, my NW and HH points post virtually instantaneously. It's terrific. Since my last post on this subject (Dec. 5), I got a 3 week blitz of e-reward surveys. Musta racked up about $75 or so. It's been quiet for nearly a week now. Still, it was great while it lasted. tls

Ditto for a redemption on 12/30. Sounds like they batch process them.

HH points better than airline miles

I totally agree HH points are better if you have an account with them. $50 e-rewards can get you 3000 HH points but only 1000 miles. Besides, one Hilton HHonors reward per Hilton HHonors account may be claimed every 90-days instead of once a year for airline miles.

I just redeemed $100 for 2000 AA miles (a Friday after close of business, east coast time). After redeeming the $, the confirmation screen came up saying "congratulations" etc. and that if my AA miles hadn't been added in 30 minutes, I should email e-rewards. It's been about 2 hours, and they haven't been added. However, I then got a confirmation email, that said that it may take 10 business days to get the miles. Why the inconsistency? Well, no big deal. I can wait the 10 business days ... tls

I think you read the confirmation screen wrong. It says you should receive a confirmation email within 30 minutes, not the miles into your account. It always takes up to 10 business days for e-rewards to add the miles to your account.
