Received mine yesterday. It's already wrapped and under the tree as a "grandma" gift for my mother. No, that doesn't mean it's from a child, or a way to tell her she's going to be a grandma.
It's that every year, for Christmas, my grandma would get at least one of us some present that she thought was just perfect for the person, and it would be so not something we'd want, use, or like, but it was always fun to see who received one that year, and to watch my grandma's expression of joy upon giving it to the person. When she passed away 5 years ago, we decided to start a new family tradition, and give each person at least one grandma gift (joke gift or an item that makes noise and is incredibly annoying) each year. Our husbands have even gotten into it, and have actually come up with some of the great gifts. This year, my father is getting camo golf balls, while my mother is getting the wine guide. She likes wine, and typically only drinks a glass in the evenings for health reasons, but we always tease her that she's a lush.
