E-Rewards AA awards

I am curious about the American Airlines awards that E-rewards issues. Is the award a certificate that can be transferred to another person, or is it issued in your name and AA Frequent Flyer # so it cannot be transferred? The reason I am wondering is that I will have E-rewards expiring on August 1 and will lose most of their value if they have not been redeemed by then. I normally redeem E-rewards for HHonors points, but I last redeemed in early May and will not be able to redeem again before the scheduled anniversary devaluation. If the award is in a transferrable form, I may be able to work a trade with someone, perhaps for a Marriott point certificates from MyPoints, as I know the Marriott awards from MyPoints are in a certificate form that is sent in to Marriott and can be applied against any Marriott account. Also, how do HHonors points credit through MyPoints? Are they issued as a certificate like the Marriott points awards from MyPoints, or are they issued instantly to your HHonors account as the E-Rewards HHonors awards are? Thanks for any info anyone might be able to supply.

With eRewards you seem to be able to designate the award to someone other than the account holder, when you provide their name and AA #. It is not a cert, so have to arrange it in advance.

The MyPoints HH is similar, no cert. I haven't tried a transfer there, so not sure if you can.

I asked E-rewards abd out putting an Aadvantage award into my wife's accoutn and was told no. It had to be in my name. They are depositied electronically BTW.

That said, I don't know if e-rewards actually checks or it is an automated process that just throws the miles into whatever aadvantage accoutn number is indicated. After being told specifically that I could not do it I don't want to chance it. You could always try it and if it doesn't work plead ignorance and get e-rewards to redeposit the $$$ into your account.

I'm currently waiting on an e-rewards AA award. How long do these typically take to post after the flight?

As for the OP regarding transferability of awards, I need to look at that too, as due to a few mega-surveys I all of a sudden have more rewards money than I know what to do with.

I just "cashed in" my 10th $50 reward for the first true free domestic ticket! (25K miles) :D

I won't use it for that but you know what I mean.

Anyway, the postings have been all over the board. The last one showed up with the flight posting, but I also had couple show up few weeks later. No rhyme or reason.

I'm still waiting for the 2500 miles for flights from May 6-9. Usually they post quicker, but right now, they seem to be slow. Also, they have been slow in posting the rewards the past 2 months, as I have about $45 that I have been waiting for since 4/6. Emailed them twice and even snail mailed copies. There as a contact perosn there that was helpful in the past, but I lost her name and email in the hard drive meltdown.

That's funny. I had miles from flights on May 22 post before my AA miles.

Is it possible to double up??

I currently have $69 e=rewards $$$. the time frame for flight now is July through September. Can I cash in $50 now and when I hit $50 again next month and the flight times are August through October, can I fly one flight in August for 5000 bonus miles???? Thanks ye more experienced ones :)

Ditto. I sent an e-mail and was told to wait six weeks. That is next week. I had a May June July window to hit. I have 20+ flights all booked on aa.com during May and June and no posting of my 2500 yet. I am assuming there was a problem.

Not technically, unless you take two flights 90 days apart. Its in the T&C's.

Exact same scenario for me...e-Rewards always posted promptly in the past (no more than 3 weeks out, and sometimes at the same time as AA miles posted). But my last 3 flights havent posted e-Rewards at all. I got the same "wait 6 weeks email." However, their T&Cs (in the award email) say 3-4 weeks tops.

e-Rewards is getting flaky. If these don't post shortly, I'm giving up on it. I have better things to do with my time than fill out surveys for rewards that don't come when they're supposed to. More trouble thani t's worth... :td:

Not sure where you get the "90 days apart" rule. I have definitely received e-rewards 2500 miles less than 90 days apart. Here's the T&C:

Looks like they changed it to once per month. Last time I checked it was 90 days. Sorry for any confusion.

I'm waiting for my second 2500 bonus to post. It's been a few weeks. Last time it took three months and several e-mails.

What a PITA. I don't get why e-Rewards can't just automatically post the miles immediately, this "book and take a flight, wait for it to post, then wait even longer, then e-mail us and complain, etc., etc., etc." process sucks.

They should eliminate the "book/take a flight" requirement and save us all a lot of time and trouble. And they'd retain more customers if the miles credited quickly and correctly.

What a hassle. Then today they send me a $3 for 20 minute survey. Yeah, right

I am waiting for my AA miles 6 days after the return on the R/T flight. Having said that, they posted my Hilton points today in under 12 hours.
