Very fast MyPoints redemption!
Gift card order arrived in mail today after less than a week! The earnings have been posting pretty quickly too.
So after a 2000 point Office Depot order a week or so ago (posted right away) I was sitting on around 14k points. So I started looking around for the roughly $100 worth of whatever I wanted to get. A few things take fewer points than others to get the same value, obviously, but I was hunting for something I would 100% definitely use without going out of the way. Settled on Darden Restaurants gift cards, cos we're suckers for Bahama Breeze. In the redemption chart, you'll only see Olive Garden and Red Lobster, I think, but these cards are also good at Smokey Bones and Bahama Breeze (this fact is noted on the award page once you click through), the latter being decidedly a cut above the others in our opinion. So 14k points gets me $100 worth as ten $10 cards. I put this order in maybe over last weekend, no earlier than Friday night. Standard disclaimer of 4-6 weeks to receive. No problem, I can wait. But the cards arrived by US mail today!

Still Waiting for Mine...
I am still waiting for my resturant GC redemption which was "mailed" on 5/3/05. I sent a followup email to MyPoints last week and was told I had to wait 6 weeks from the sent date before another followup. This is the first time ever that I have to wait this long for nothing from Mypoints.
To be fair, MyPoints has been very prompt for all my other reward redemptions.

My last order for 40 x 1000 MR Marriott certificates plus 4 x $50 Home Depot gift cards arrived in 7 days - was delivered FedEx two-day, no less! Guess they didn't want to take a chance with so much value, of the package getting misplaced by the USPS!!!

Between that and some strategically timed Office Depot and Hewlett Packard purchases for the office, I actually managed to get these points in a relatively short time period.

Hilton points
I have only redeemed MyPoints for Hilton HHonors points, but they too seem to be posting to my account much faster (2 days) than before (a week plus). ^

A theory on the speed of gift card shipment.....
For a while, I just earned MyPoints without purchases--- now I make a lot of purchases using the MyPoints portal.
When I earned enough points for gift card redemption by simply clicking on the 5 free points and signing up for free no-strings, offers I've noticed that it took weeks and weeks to getting the certs. When I later earned the standard 5 free points, and made some purchases, I noticed that the gift cards arrived in a week or less, as others here have reported.
Maybe the secret to getting your giftcards fast is by making purchases through the MyPoints portal, instead of just earning free 5 points per message and not making any purchases. @:-)
At least that what my experiences lead me to believe.
