Question AA miles with e-Rewards

Can I use the $50 in my erewards account towards the 2500 AA miles for another person who is flying AA. Or do they perform a name match?

thx

Yes, I have redeemed rewards from my wife' s e-rewards account posted to my AA account (obviously in conjunction with flights booked on aa.com) at least three times within the last year or so.
All you need to do is fill in the appropriate Advantage #

In the experience of many members, they don't give you the 2500 bonus miles at all; at least not without a big fight.

I also think that we only hear from the people who have had bad experiences with E-rewards. I've had nothing but good experiences with having my miles post, and have redeemed for quite a few rewards. Just thought I'd throw that in there.

No problems either but one annoyance

I agree, there might be a reporting bias. I've gotten the 1,000 and 2,500 mile awards without a problem.

My major annoyance is that, at the time of redeeming, one must fly on AA within a 90-day window. Somtimes I would want to fly before the window, other times a particular itinerary is part in, part of the timeframe.

Agree that those of us who've experienced problems are most likely to be more passionate about posting our experiences. But the OP should be aware that problems with miles being credited are occuring; and if you're bending the rules, it's likely you'll be out of luck if the automatic posting doesn't happen.

That is permitted under the rules. The only requirement is that at least one of the segments of your itinerary must be within the 90 day period given when a reward is redeemed.

I had ZERO problems with them in August, got all miles within 2 weeks; However, in Nov I redeemed again, flew DEC and Still they have not posted. They do not reply to emails.

Therefore, I have experienced both sides.

PEACE!

I redeemed in October and flew in Dec but haven't received the miles. But I emailed them today and within an hour, I had a response they were looking into it...Cross my fingers.

I vaguely remember a once in 90 days restriction of claiming the American award in erewards. I can't find it now. If I have 3 flights coming up can I redeem this award 3 times if I have the eR$?

thx

Nope, you can't. It's once every 90 days. Check out the member agreement on the site.

I e-mailed e-rewards with this exact question last week and was told in no uncertain terms that the names had to match. So, caveat emptor. It may work but if they catch it you might be out your $50 e-bucks.

True enough but I would not have expected them to say that its allowed anyway , but the first time I tried it wife's points were about expire so we figured it she had nothing to lose. Worked twice more without any problems.

I checked my AA account today and my miles were there. So, it took them a day to credit my miles from when I emailed them. I included the E-reward award confirmation email in my initial email to them.
