Dell Notebooks
Going to buy three notebooks for right around $8,000 total in the coming weeks.
Greenpoints is now down to 10 points/$.
Ebates is at 2%. I've never shopped Ebates and therefore not sure how it works at all.
Anyone have:
1. Coupons for these purchases.
2. Suggestions on points, miles or other opportuities?
I've got far too many USAir and UAL miles, but would take them on others. Just looking for my best earning options.

I noticed that people are selling 15% off coupons for Dell on Ebay. I don't know the details, but for the kind of purchase you have, it might be worth looking into.

I value mypoints at .007 (seven tenths of a cent) each so that "2 pts. per dollar spent offer" would be equal to a 1.4% discount. Morerebates disc. is 2.5% plus there is a disc. coupon ($25)if you spend over $500 w/Dell. Not sure if the $25 coupon is generic.

I bought at medium/large business...I don't think I got any points though since I couldn't get the machine I wanted at the home center.

there are a lot of dell coupons out there - check out techbargains.com or fatwallet.com. some of these coupons you can use in conjuction with a mile or rebate portal.

Look also at the archives on www.edealinfo.com They show alot of ways to work the dell deals to max out your savings, and I was able to get my Dell super machine with alot of bell and whistles for alot less thru their links and promo codes than any other site, so check them out.

Bumping this up for more purchases ($4k this time). I can get Contintal miles at 2 per $; I have zero miles with Continental. I can get 1 US mile per $; I have these coming out my ears. Or I can go with MyPoints, which doesn't trip my trigger but I'd take it. Any newer opinions on making Dell purchases?

I think Continental miles are worth more, but of course is depends on what you want to use it on. myPoints are convertible into HH points at 1:1 ratio, OnePass miles can go into Amtrak and then to HH resulting in 2:1 ratio. Also, 40,000 myPoints gets UA award ticket, which is about how many UA miles it would cost, but OnePass can convert to UA (again through Amtrak) at 1:1 ratio where you may get a saver ticket for 25,000 miles or saver business class ticket for 40,000 miles (I'm not totally sure about these values). So it seems the good things you can do with myPoints, you can also do with OnePass but with better value.
