AOL offer

2000 free points, as long as you remember to call and cancel when the points post...

Try AOL FREE for 1,045 Hours. No credit card required. Take the AOL Challenge and earn 2,000 Points. (Once)

You won't see an automatic confirmation of the award for this offer. The 2,000 Points will be available 20 business days after you sign up for AOL.

In addition, to properly credit these Points to your account, the name and email address you use when you complete your transaction must be exactly the same as your MyPoints account information. This helps us to identify your Point earnings accurately.

UBB code breaks this url, so just copy & paste into your browser and then remove the space in "Fn_ award_id="

I have a question for anyone who's tried this.. did you need to actually install AOL? Or did you just have to download it? I keep thinking of trying this out, but I already have access and I'm not too keep to give AOL my name and email address. But I sure would like the points! I cash out for $25 webbies.. and it would put me that much closer to YET another one really quickly!

You probably don't need to install the software, although if you know anyone who has AOL, it couldn't hurt to log onto your account from their computer a few times. You can read AOL email on the web at www.aol.com, so that alone could probably make your account look active. I'll let you know how it goes for me.

My guess is you DO have to install AOL. I don't think they are dumb enough to give out 2000 pts. otherwise.

I signed up and installed AOL last Dec. and then cancelled after 30 days. My points posted AFTER I cancelled. JMHO.

The offer asked for a credit card to continue just now. Has the offer changed?

Re: credit card

Technically, you can give them direct debit info (ie, your bank account numbers) instead of credit card. I decided I'd rather have them know my credit card number!

Hmm.. I have a prepaid card (similar to webcertificate) that has 21 cents on it. Wonder if I could use that to sign up. After that if I had trouble cancelling, it would be no bid deal, it's not like they're getting any money out of me anyways. I've been looking for a way to use my 21 cents!

My 2000 points posted nearly 3 weeks before the trial ran out. Not bad.

That's nothing - I signed up on Thursday, and the points posted on Sunday. My mileage, though, is probably not close to anyone else's.
