Wife and I both got to the magical $25 level this month and cashed out for our 2,000 total Hilton HHonors points.

Whew!

Received this email re: my wife's e-rewards account. Thought it was pretty nice of them:

Thank you for your membership in e-Rewards(R). As a valued
member, we want to let you know how much we appreciate your
participation in the program.

As you may know from the e-Rewards Member Agreement, some
of the e-Rewards that you earned through December 31, 2001,
and did not redeem as of March 31, 2002, were subject to
expiration.

But because you have not yet had a chance to redeem a reward,
we invite you to take advantage of this special offer:

Simply update your e-Rewards profile, and the earnings that
were scheduled to expire on March 31, 2002, will remain
available for you to redeem until March 31, 2003. Thats
an extra year to save and spend your e-Rewards for one of
many valuable rewards.

Remember, with as few as $25 in e-Rewards, you can redeem
your earnings for your choice of:

Free rentals from BLOCKBUSTER(R)
Savings on Delta or United Airlines
Dollars off a Hertz(R) car rental
Hilton HHonors Points

Please dont delay. Your e-Rewards will expire according
to the program rules, unless you respond to this special
offer by 11:59 p.m. on June 25, 2002.

Click the link below to update your profile and keep the
e-Rewards that are about to expire.

That is a first rate action taken by e-rewards. It is good to see something like this done for their customers.

I hope it makes financial sense for them.

I guess I agree that it is good for them to do this - but I really don't see why there should be an expiration at all - or at least not such a quick one. If the business model they are using makes sense, then it shouldn't be based on people losing their points. So far, none of mine have expired, but I should probably cash some in, just in case.

When I got the e-mail, I had $23 or $24 & cents, so I updated. When I get to $25 (after 18 months! ), I intend to grab my 1000 HHonors points & unsubscribe. It just isn't worth it, & spam is still spam, even with those minimal points!
