Has anyone ever used Points.com?

I had come across points.com in another thread, thought I might check with you guys to get some feedback before trying it out. Looks like they've got a pretty interesting service where you can exchange your currencies (miles or points) to another. Not too sure about how favorable those ratios are, but nevertheless, this may provide the opportunity for me to get rid of some orphan miles.

I am sure.......not favorable in the least.
Only used them to get a partner credit for an airline promotion.

Many people used points.com to transfer points from Alaska to AA for the AA 20/20 promo last year.

It worked for 3 reasons:
1) The first points.com transfer was free (I think they charge for all transfers now?)
2) You could earn 500 free points at alaskair.com by creating a "myalaskaair" account.
3) You could transfer a minimum of 500 AS points at the time (they've raised the minimum 2000).

I doubt I'll ever use points.com again.

I've used it as a partner for the AA's 20/20 promo. Exchanged 7 America West miles for 1 AAdvantage mile (that was the exchange rate at the time, with no minimum and no fee for the first transaction).

I really don't think the service is worth it.

I have 4,500 miles in America West, to transfer them either to American Airlines or Delta, I would get the incredible amount of 188 miles.

I would rather have them in there and just catch a promotion once in a while, without letting them expire.

Use the service to track your miles, but I wouldn't use them for anything else

wow, thanks for the quick response!

since everyone's response thus far has been negative, I'm curious if it's due to the terrible exchange rates, poor program execution, or just bad service (i.e. miles/points didn't post correctly)?

Yes, mine was for the AA promotion, too.
Sorry I did not mention that.

I used points.com to transfer miles from Alaska Airlines and America West to Delta miles. Since it was my first transfer, it was free. The transfer ratio was bad but I only needed 500 Delta miles anyway. Its a good program to use if you have miles sitting around that you cannot transfer or use normally (like under 1000 miles). It took a while for the miles to post to my Delta acct because Delta had just signed with points.com and was having difficulty setting up their program. The program does work and the points.com people will email you back.

Terrible exchange rates. I mean a conversion rate of 10% or less is just laughable... plus you have to pay a fee on top of that?!
