Tim, You've got mail. The deadline appears to have been moved out to the end of May, but the sooner you open it, the sooner the extra money starts earning you interest.

I've been impressed with how quickly ING Direct credited my account with the original $25 bonus and the $10 referral credit. Each transaction was credited within 24 hours, even when it happened over a weekend. And in just one week, I also started earning interest! Okay, so it was only two cents, but still....
Now that the promotion has been extended thru 5/31, if there is anyone else who is interested in joining, you can email me [email protected]. Send me your full name and the email address you plan to use when sgning up and I will have an invitation sent to you -- I can still refer several people. You need to receive an emailed invitation and use the URL inside that email in order to get the $25 bonus.
Question: once this promo is over, does anyone plan to keep this account open? Or are you planning to take your bonus money and run?

I have seen their flyers in the paper for many months and never got around to opening the account until the bonus came, so I will keep it open. They have several options that I like in a savings account, first being they do not offer an ATM card, so the temptation to take out a few dollars is gone. Second, they pay a decent amount of interest, with no fees. Lastly, they make it real easy to put money into the account, just sweeping it from your regular bank account, no checks to mail or anything like that. So, yes, I will keep the account open after the refferal bonus stuff ends.

Just a thought if it matters to anybody. The bonuses you get count as interest, which means they have to 1099 you and count on your income tax. It doesn't matter to me, but I use to work at a bank and people went nuts when we had to 1099 them for the free toasters they got to open an account.
I too have referrals left when everybody else runs out.

I just signed up for an ING account...
Got my referral from AzureBlue -- Thank you, milady.
So, as soon as Azure's all out of referrals, I'm open to providing some...
Email me at [email protected] with your full name and email address, and I'll hook you up...
(Is there anyone who _doesn't_ love this S.P.A.M. board?)j.

Interesting that they file a 1099 for something like that. Now, the question is, I am 15 - I have never filed taxes, but I know there is some sort of limit on interest for minors before parents have to file for them. I had no problem signing up for ING, and the phone agent gave me no problems when he was verifying my information - despite a birthdate mid-way through the 80's
How long am I going to have to keep the account before I am allowed to transfer my money back? I tried running a $45 ($20+$25 bonus) transfer to my checking, but it told me my "amount available" was $25.

Just to make it easier, for referral links we need first and last name, and an e-mail address. All that is provided to ING and they send out the link to you.
