You were indeed lucky. AA customer service told me they'd contacted MyReceivables and been told I didn't qualify.

Given that I was told my registration had been "lost" by MyReceivables, I don't know how they could tell whether I qualify or not.

I see on MyReceivables web site they are involved in credit and collection. Maybe we need to file a collection on them with them.

You'd think a company involved in credit and collection wouldn't become a deadbeat...but they've proven me wrong.

FYI for everyone. You also may wish to think about sending AA your comments.

Dear RMAC,

Thank you for visiting the American Airlines Web site and for your recent e-mail to AAdvantage Customer Service. I appreciate the opportunity to assist you.

We appreciate your letting us know about the difficulty you encountered with one of our AAdvantage participants. I am sorry that you were disappointed with Myreceivables.com when you inquired about its services. It is good for us to hear about any issues related to the AAdvantage program, especially when our customers' expectations are not met.

We strive to provide our members with the finest frequent flyer program in the industry, and letters such as yours help us to monitor our efforts in meeting that objective. It is in everyone's best interest that the companies that participate in the AAdvantage program meet the high standards that customers have come to expect from American Airlines. Still, we do not resolve individual service issues on behalf of AAdvantage participants. Please understand American Airlines is not responsible for products or services offered.

I have referred your email to our AAdvantage Sales Department, who assured me that the matter will be investigated. We will notify you of the results of your claim.

I'm sorry my response couldn't be more positive. We value your loyalty and are eager to continue the beneficial relationship we have enjoyed thus far. Thank you for your understanding.

Regards,

Joe Medellin AAdvantage Customer Service American Airlines

E-mail received from: RMAC Date Generated: 07/25/01 17:19 Regarding: AAdvantage Customer Service --- Message Comments --- Good day,

I would like to bring to your attention problems that I have had with www.myreceivables.com. Earlier this year, they promoted a signup that you would receive a 500 mile AA voucher for providing business information to them. However, they turned nasty and sent the following email out to all subscribers.

Dear Subscriber,

Due to the overwhelming success of our E-zine program we recently upgraded our listserv hardware/software to better service your requests. During the transition, several applicants were lost and, as a result, we have no records in our database. If you had applied for our E-zine prior to March 1, 2001 and have not received your first issue, it is possible that your name was one of those that were lost. To rectify this, please re-apply @ http://www.myreceivables.com/free.htm. If you have re-applied, or applied after this date, your FREE E-zine should be arriving shortly.

Please note, eligibility for our AAdvantage(R) miles program is for qualified businesses and their employees. Application for our E-zine and delivery of such does not constitute conformance to these qualifications under this program.

Thank you, The E-zine publishing team

I use the word nasty as, first, if they had lost my information, how would they have my email address? Second, they changed the rules that were posted on the site and added the phrase Please note, eligibility for our AAdvantage(R) miles program is for qualified businesses and their employees.

I sent the following email to them recently when they advised that I would not receive my miles;

I will be contacting AA to complain about your program. Initially, you did not place a qualifier on your website about "qualified business". You then sent out emails to participants with the excuse that your server had gone down and participants had to re-qualify with a new set of rules. I do not think this is fair and feel it is downright fraud on your part. How unfair of you to do this.

I have not heard from them nor do I expect to. As I value my involvement with the Aadvantage program and what you all do, I want you to be aware of this. I would hope that you cease all involvement with them, as I know for a fact that they have done this to a large number of people based on what I read in the travel forums I visit.

Thank you, RMAC AA#********

Here's the response I received from MyReceivables.com today. Just so you know, the email I sent them was an inquiry about the miles I had not received yet. At no point did I accuse them of anything.

"BlankDear Subscriber,

The Ezine promotion has been discontinued for over 2 months. It is not our intention to mislead those persons who have applied for, in good faith, our FREE E-zine. You will, in fact, be receiving that E-zine at the next publication. At no time have we misled, or attempted to mislead, those applicants who have applied on those grounds and in good faith. Our policy has been, and continues to be, an honoring of all requests as they are submitted. The AAdvantage(R) miles program is, and has been, for qualified
businesses and its' employees. If your organization is one such business, than you too would have received your compliment of miles. We apologize for any misunderstanding you may have had. I hope this clairfies your concerns.

The E-zine publishing team"
